working women problems + solutions

This is as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars #OBelievers

In my former career working with NBC Universal, I was surrounded by men and tough women.  There was always a competitive air and a lot of insincere smiles going around.  The corporate world, especially in the film industry and especially in Los Angeles can be tricky to navigate/survive.  You have to be confident and strong and even more so when you are a young woman.

I never really wanted to work in “the” industry but when an assisting casting director job opens up and is offered to you (with no experience) you say yes.  I was really, really young and also pretty.  There were many negative assumptions made about how I even got the job.  That was hard to ignore.  But, I was really good at my job and I quickly earned respect from many of my colleges and boss(es).  That’s how the world works a lot of the time for women – you have to prove yourself first.

Once I established myself as a woman who could hang with the big boys, I was terrified to let it be known I was still a girl.  Don’t cry; don’t show weakness.  Wear sexy designer power-woman outfits, but don’t show too much skin.  Don’t mention your desire to have babies.  Above all, never, ever let it be known that you have a period.

Sounds silly, right?  But that is a common theme for women working alongside men.  God, I love being self employed so much right now. <3  Being discreet is seriously a #1 priority and when I was working, I didn’t carry a purse, only a satchel for my scripts.  It didn’t have extra pockets for tampons, so I kept them in my pockets (or boots, YES, I carried tampons in my boots).  This is not so difficult with a discreet tampon like o.b.® PRO COMFORT®.

These discreet tampons don’t have bulky applicators, so they fit right in your pocket, even a jean pocket.  When casting, I was traveling constantly and found myself in all sorts of situations where I couldn’t run back to my hotel room and grab a tampon.  Another concern was definitely leaks, a.k.a. my worst nightmare.  o.b.® tampons help stop leaks by expanding all around to fit your unique shape.  They also have Fluid-Lock® grooves to lock in leaks so you have peace of mind while you go conquer the world.

The other day, while I was at work, my cousin stole my iphone and tested to see if it can survive a thirty foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation. My apple ipad is now destroyed and she has 83 views. I know this is entirely off topic but I had to share it with someone!
