expecting adventure {Mountain Mama Maternity}

Mountain Mama maternity pullover

It officially is getting cold here (if you consider mid 60s cold like I do), and while I am wrapped up in chunky knits as much as possible, I still wanted to find a maternity jacket for active lifestyles.  This proved to be a harder task than I initially set out for.  There really isn’t a whole lot out there for active mamas-to-be, especially for cold weather.  Then I came across Mountain Mama, an exceptional maternity apparel company geared towards the adventurous expectant mom.

I can’t remember where I first locked eyes with the Olympia Softshell Maternity Pullover, but it was love at first sight.  There is something so comforting about a thick pullover and this one fits like a glove.  I love the details, the super cool V-neck that is somewhere between a hood and a collar, the front muff for hands, and the thumb cuffs.  I’m not a huge fan of the thumb holes in long sleeves, especially if you made them yourself (cringe), but here they really work.  I find myself keeping my thumbs poking out which keeps the palms so cozy.

The fit of the Olympia Pullover is great, partially due to Mountain Mama’s signature Bellyglove front.  The Bellyglove is a unique curved-front that eliminates updrafts, unflattering draping and other unfortunate things that can happen to the pregnant woman’s midsection.  The great fit is also due to the fabric, which was a surprise to me.  The fabric is Supersoft Polartec PowerDry and I love it.  This fabric gives the pullover a decent amount of stretch, a way comfortable feel and a super fast air dry out of the washer.

Mountain Mama excels at clothing women who love to be active, but who also happen to be pregnant.  Quite possibly the best activity for pregnant ladies is yoga.  I’m a yoga enthusiast as it not only keeps the body toned, but the mind clear, and now I am wearing the yogawear from Mountain Mama.  The Marni Movement Maternity Tank is a must-have for active women.  The beauty is in the strap detail here which features flat crisscross straps… so cute.  For comfortable support, there is a shelf bra.  And for coverage while you are stretching, twisting and bending, the Estiron fabric has a 4-way stretch.  This fabric is also great at wicking moisture, perfect for that exercise-induced sweat (or hot flash).

Pair this top with the Leah Yoga Pant, a mega comfortable catch-all pant.  The waist and legs feature drawcords, which are fun details.  The waist can be pulled to “rolldown” giving you the option of placing the rise at the most comfortable point for you — hug and support or low under the belly.  The legs cinch together so you can transform the pants into capris (or genie pants like I like to do).  Together, theses two essentials form a really comfortable outfit for not only yoga but any activity or just lounging around.

Made in the USA, California to be exact, Mountain Mama is for the adventurous types.  High quality apparel for the moms who does not stop when pregnancy strikes, Mountain Mama will clothe you while you bike, hike or run for two.
