a perfect bottle of wine every time {NewAir}

I admit, every day while I homeschool my 1st grader and handle my teething 9 month old, I look forward to that 7 pm glass of wine.  Some days, I’m counting down the hours and minutes.  That glorious time comes when I serve dinner and pour a much deserved glass of wine at the oh-so-perfect temperature.  Not the over-chilled white or warm red, no, the perfect temperature thanks to the New Air Thermoelectric Wine Cooler, sent for review.

While I am learning to become a wine snob, the perfect counterpart to my husband, the craft beer snob, I’m really trying to focus on improving my wine education.  Prior to late, I described wine as either bad or good but now I am learning to experience the nuances and intricacies found in each glorious bottle.  Living in SoCal, my selection is pretty awesome, a flood of incredible wines floating down from Napa and Sonoma Valley, and at amazing prices. I feel pretty lucky.

The first step to really experiencing a good glass of wine is proper storage, a wine cooler being the most practical home option.  When I started searching around for one that could meet my needs, I found the NewAir AW 281E – a 28 bottle capacity Thermoelectric Wine Cooler that was sleek and quality made. The cooler features a digital temperature display with easy controls.  This is the easiest appliance to use in my kitchen!

Aesthetically, the AW 281E is very pleasant and fits in perfectly with my stainless appliances.  The blue LED lights add a nice ambiance and make choosing a bottle of wine in a dim kitchen easy.  I’m loving the LED because they do not create extra heat, which would be counterproductive in a cooler. This wine cooler would look amazing built into the kitchen cabinets — on my to-do list.  It can technically hold 28 bottles, but I removed one rack and spaced the remaining 5 further apart.  I don’t think I’ll typically have close to 28 bottles at one time and some larger bottles wouldn’t fit with more spacing.

A great wine cooler such as this NewAir model makes entertaining easy – no need for guests to hunt around for a fresh pour.  They all gravitate to the LED-lit cooler and enjoy perfect temp wine. I’m free to mingle around and let the cooler do its thing…

So far my friends and neighbors have had nothing but good things to say about the wine cooler, and most of them are more in the know about wine than I am.  The double-paned door insulates the interior, maintaining a constant temperature, only rising when the door stays open for too long – indecisive people like me have this issue, but once the door is back, the temp drops back to where it needs to be.  I keep mine at 55 degrees and it houses mostly Pinot Grigio and Pinot Noir as those are my two loves at this time.

I was surprised to hear how quiet the cooler is.  This is due to it not cooling with a compressor, and thank God.  Finally, I have a silent dishwasher and a silent washer/dryer… I’m not trying to add noise back into my life!  Using thermoelectric energy is much more energy efficient and doesn’t give that excess vibration a compressor does, which is harmful to the quality of wine. This is one smart and sophisticated wine cooler, the perfect gift for the upcoming holiday season!
