Top 5 toddler sleep essentials {Top 5}

What could be more important in a toddler’s life than sleep?  I know when my son misses a nap he is CRANK-Y… and so is mom.  He’s always been quite particular with his sleep and has certain rituals he needs in order to actually fall asleep.  He DEFINITELY needs a pacifier and he DEFINITELY needs his bunny.  He needs this Bommerscheim Buddy so he can rub the ears on his nose.  It’s the cutest thing EVER!

Okay so when Gabriel has been really rowdy all day and is having trouble winding down, I find a nice, soothing bath really does the trick.  Out of the tub, straight into comfortable pajamas.  something super soft and the fit is really important.  You don’t want him to feel restricted.  Burt’s Bees Baby is a favorite kids clothing brand of mine.  The quality of the 100% organic cotton is top notch and the prices are crazy affordable.  Fantastic company.  These new jams that Gabriel is wearing are the Toddler Classic Stripe Long Sleeve Tee and Bugs Graphic Pant PJ Set.  The navy blue pants feature the most adorable “bugs” graphic in red, running down the leg.

The other pair (see below) is the Toddler Bugs Graphic Long Sleeve Tee and Buzzer Print Pant PJ Set, which I just adore.  The soft blue color is gorgeous and the graphics, well just look!  “bugs” is printed all over the pants and the top has its own “bugs”.  They are soft and organic, and amazingly only $15 a set!!

Also from Burt’s Bees Baby, is this crazy soft quilt that Gabriel sleeps with every night.  He even drags it out the couch in the morning when he’s still feeling tired.  It is thick and plush yet not heavy and hot.  Just the right amount of weight without leaving your baby sweaty – year round.  This quilt is the 100% organic cotton Honeybee Baby Quilt in heather grey.  This particular quilt also comes in pink and blue varieties and retails for a reasonable $50.  Every baby/toddler needs this quilt on their bed!

You’ve probably noticed an adorable glowing dragon in the photos — my absolute favorite nightlight on the planet.   Kinderglo has, in my opinion, the most toddler-friendly nightlights I’ve seen.  Wall lights are cool but my kids like to take their lights to bed with them.  My toddler will lay and stare at/cuddle with the nightlight for a good 20 minutes before he drifts off to sleep.  A charged light will stay lit for 8-10 hours, so basically all night.  And since they are not attached to the wall or a cord, kids can carry them to the bathroom!

The next must-have is a sound machine.  Gabriel would have never slept as a baby without his white noise!  Now he prefers lullabies and they come from my Motorola MBP36S Video Baby Monitor , which makes it a multitasker!!  Look for my review of this monitor in the next few days.

Finally, OF COURSE, the fifth toddler sleep essential is a pile of awesome bedtime books.  What kind of kid goes to sleep without a bedtime story?  These are essential to the nighttime routine… very calming and of course great for encouraging your soon-to-be young reader.

    You really do need all of these to get the kiddos to sleep. My favorite for a great bed time is a good story book. Puts them out like a light.

    I adore those pajamas! I will have to check them out as a Christmas gift for one of my grandsons. Sleep is definitely essential, and with 4 boys, I know my daughter-in-law doesn’t get much!
