First off, Happy St. Patrick’s Day!  I’m a big believer of starting your day out right.  It has taken me 30 years to get to this point, but I can honestly say now, I wake up and do a lot of the right things.  I do my yoga stretches, I meditate for 10 minutes and I eat a colorful breakfast.  This is a 2016 thing and I’m pretty happy to be trucking through March with my resolution intact.

So step one, yoga and meditation.

Step two, a colorful, nutrition-packed breakfast.  This has been my biggest struggle throughout my years.  Not the healthy eating part, but I just don’t like to eat early in the morning.  What I have found though, is that you CAN train yourself to be a breakfast person.  I’ll never be able to wake up and eat a stack of pancakes like the rest of my family, but I can house a smoothie bowl like a champ!

Smoothies have long been a part of my life and I eat 1-2 every day.  In the past, I wouldn’t attempt consuming my morning smoothie until… 10 AM maybe, at the earliest.  I know – SO terrible!  The worst thing you can do to your metabolism is not eat for hours after you have been awake.

If you are not a breakfast person, you just have to force yourself to be one.  It will result in more energy and a better metabolism, so it’s really important.  Something that seems to be lacking from smoothies is texture.  There is never a crunch like you might get in a big bowl of cereal.  However, the smoothie bowl creates a really amazing opportunity for all kinds of texture – cereals, nuts, seeds, whole fruits… whatever you like!

Earlier in the week, I told you guys about the new Naked Cold Pressed Juice that is currently available in California, soon to be nationwide.  Cold Pressed Juice is the ultimate juice – made with ready-to-eat, high quality fruits and vegetables that are cold pressed (i.e. no loss of nutrition due to heat) straight into the bottle.  These have a shorter shelf-life but offer maximum nutrition.  In my mind, this is Naked Juice taking their amazing juice game to the highest level.  They have been in business for 30 years and we’re all fans, right?  I love that they have noticed the cold pressed juice trend and jumped aboard.

I was inspired to create this smoothie bowl by three Naked Pressed Juices that I found yesterday: Bright Greens (apple, cucumber, celery, lettuce, lemon, kale, spinach and wheatgrass), Hearty Greens (celery, apple, lettuce, cucumber, orange, spinach, lemon, wheatgrass and kale with a hint of spearmint) and Cool Pineapple (pineapple, cucumber and lemon with a touch of filtered water).  I used a lot of similar ingredients to create this magnificent smoothie bowl and then topped it with a puffed brown rice cereal, diced kiwi fruit and chia seed for texture.

Find the 5 flavors of Naked Cold Pressed Juice available: Bright Greens, Hearty Greens, Lively Carrot, Bold Beet and Cool Pineapple.  I can’t wait to try the remaining flavors!  Learn more about Naked Pressed.  For my other post about Naked Pressed, check out -> Hiking With Kids.
