real goals for real results {Simple Start}

I was given 1 free month of Weight Watchers Simple Start program to write about my experience.  Though I was compensated for my time and commitment, my thoughts and opinions are all mine –> 100% genuine folks

For the past two weeks I have been taking recipes and tips from Simple Start, an online program and app from Weight Watchers.  Within this service, you can find delicious, nutritious recipes that won’t wreck your weight loss goals, fitness activity ideas and tips, as well as informative advice on managing stress and other factors that may affect your health.  Basically, Simple Start is an all-encompassing, healthy lifestyle program to get you back on track, no matter how you lost your way to begin with.

In my first post I talked about my journey from my son’s inception to now.  Starting as an extremely active, fit person and evolving into a bedridden, muscle-depleted high-risk pregnant lady, that year was very challenging.  Postpartum, we have to deal with so much change, from confused hormones to sleep deprivation, finding time and energy and the right mindset for fitness and healthy meals can seem… unobtainable.  I mean, this last pregnancy really threw me for a loop, nothing like the easy time baby #1 was.

So I shared about my life, I gave you a totally yummy salad recipe that I eat sometimes three times a day, but there has to be some sort of resolution.  What did I get out of Simple Start?  Well, I learned a few things about getting back on track.

  1. Make simple goals.  Small changes like drinking more water, tracking daily steps and eating breakfast every day really count — and they add up to significant results.
  2. Put in the effort.  Forget Pinterest pins that tout “5 simple ways to lose 10 pounds”, “3 days to ripped abs” … Let’s just all be grown ups and admit it is as simple as calories in vs. calories out.  Exercise every day.  Move your muscles in the gym and flex your will power in the kitchen.
  3. Seek inspiration.  I’m not advocating browsing “fitspo” hashtags as those will most likely leave you with unrealistic expectations and at the bottom of an ice cream tub.  It’s really an unhealthy trend, one that reminds me of “thinspiration” where girls compared bone protrusions.  In the end, it’s more comparing and less inspiring.  Instead, read real success stories from really successful women, not stolen images of models with catchy slogans stamped across them in Picmonkey.
  4. Learn from your mistakes.  When you slip up, and you will, instead of self-shaming, learn from it.  Negativity will get you nowhere and there is no place for it in your life.  We all make mistakes.  Figure out the “why” and the “how to avoid” will be easily apparent.  Onward and upward!

Do yourself a favor and skip trending workouts and diets — get real.  Simple Start is seriously easy to start, easy to stick with and easy to see results with.  Eating a diet of purely natural foods (that don’t weigh you down) will give you energy to power through bigger workouts and put you in a better mindset.  It’s a truth.  If you start to feel yourself stray or have negative thoughts, check out the success stories.  You can find someone to relate to as Simple Start separates the inspirational stories into age groups and brackets of pounds lost.  The tools you need to get healthy are there.  All you need to do is come with a positive attitude and the desire to succeed.

    I have recently finished my two weeks and I echo your tip: Seek inspiration. Jessica Simpson really inspired me as she struggled with her baby weight.

    I was thinking about this last night. I need to get motivated and workout more. My back has been in pain lately and if I workout the backpain goes away. Thanks for the motivation!
