exciting new reads {Sasquatch Books} + Giveaway Book Bundle

Looking for new books that will keep your children engaged? Here are some recent releases that are worth checking out.

Monsters Under Bridges Written by Rachel Roellke Coddington Illustrated by Jolby

You don’t have to live in the Pacific Northwest to enjoy this book but you sure are likely to want to visit once you’ve read Monsters Under Bridges. Each page is filled with adorable illustrations and fabulous descriptions about each monster. You’ll learn the history behind each monster and what they are known for.

No need to worry about scary monsters here, just some fun and harmless characters. My daughter loves the details of each monster and their quirky personalities. The book lists the monster’s name and their stats, like which bridge they are associated with, what they eat, population and even what they smell like. The kids seem to really enjoy the part of the book that shows the individual monster in proportion to their size.

This fun to read book is a great way to learn about several of the bridges that are throughout the PNW. If you do live out in this area, it’s a fantastic way to get excited about traveling and just maybe catching a glimpse of these adorable monsters. Monsters Under Bridges is an enjoyable read for  boys, girls and parents alike. Purchase your copy here.

Larry Gets Lost in Prehistoric Times Written by Andrew Fox & John Skewes Larry-Gets-Lost-in-Prehistoric-Times

Larry Gets Lost in Prehistoric Times is the twelfth book in the Larry Get’s Lost Series. This time, Larry doesn’t actually get lost but instead this adventurous dog wanders off while dreaming. While Pete reads aloud about Prehistoric times, Larry dozes off.

Dreaming, Larry finds himself in a time long ago, a time when dinosaurs roamed the earth. This captivating story educates the reader not only about the different types of dinosaurs and animals that lived millions of years but also about the different Eras. Larry Gets Lost in Prehistoric Times is an exciting way to learn about this time period.

Just by reading this book to my daughter, I know that I learned a ton of information about dinosaurs. The book even briefly talks about the Ice Age and about when modern humans began to appear. Such an exciting and educational book, that all kids are sure to enjoy. Purchase a copy here.

Monkey World: The Thunderbolt Express Written by Matthew PorterThunderbolt_Express

Monkey World: The Thunderbolt Express is a quick paced book that takes you on a lively journey through Monkey World. You meet some fascinating characters who are all riding the train, the Thunderbolt Express. The book starts off by introducing each monkey character by telling you their name and what they do. The cast of characters are quite amusing. My favorite being Jango Jenkins and his Dixieland Band and my daughter loves Ms. Trixie and her pug dog Napoleon.

As you follow along on this magical excursion, things soon go awry. Parts of the train tracks
have gone missing and they must make it over the river full of crocodiles! With a little bit of quick thinking and some magic they arrive safely at the station. This story is thrilling to the very end.

My daughter continually asks for this book. When I asked what she enjoyed most, she said she loved looking at the pictures. Truth be told they are indeed amazing. I don’t think you have to be a train lover to enjoy this gorgeously illustrated book. Available September 24, 2013. But you can pre-order here.

Why Do I Sing? Animal Songs of the Pacific Northwest   Written by Jennifer BlomgrenWhyDoISing

Why Do I Sing? Animal Songs of the Pacific Northwest is a beautiful introduction to many of the amazing animals that live in the Pacific Northwest. The book celebrates the sounds of each animal and the wonder of who they might be singing for. Are they communicating to one another or conveying happiness?

The stunning illustrations are captivating and the story flows as the words are read rhythmically. This lovely story is a wonderful way to teach children about the wonders of the natural world and the critters that live in their backyards. My daughter is drawn into each page as she loves the way the story rhymes while she learns about each animal.

This is a perfect book for children who are curious about the nature that surrounds them. Learn about the different calls that each animal makes and what they sound like.  Why Do I Sing? Animal Songs of the Pacific Northwest will be available September 10, 2013 but you can pre-order here.
