protein bars and shakes on the go {trail food}

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of V8 Protein for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

Here in the desert, life is good. Our days are hitting around 84. The sun is shining, the air is breezy and we are taking advantage. Now is the time we head outside and family hikes have become very regular for us. We have to get them in now before the smothering heat comes in. Snacks on-the-go are imperative to our days outside to keep us all going — especially the protein-filled kind! In our packs these days are the new V8 Protein Bars and Shakes, which contain ingredients we love, like quinoa, brown rice and sweet potatoes blended with yums like honey and cocoa. Can’t miss, right?

Raise of hands, who loves V8? I have a love affair with the classic vegetable juice and my kids love the fruit & vegetable blends. It is a brand I trust to deliver added nutrition to my family’s life, so when I heard of this new line of protein bars and shakes I was thrilled! We go through box after box after box of granola and protein bars… like a few boxes a week. We also drink protein shakes daily, which I whip up in my blender, but on the go? I need something way more convenient.

V8 Protein Bars blend soy protein, delicious nuts, oats and spices to give you satisfying delicious energy. They really ARE delicious too and come in these flavors: chocolate peanut butter, chocolate pomegranate, oatmeal raisin. I am a pushover for anything oatmeal raisin, so I headed right for that one and was not disappointed. The flavors are so rich and deep – so yum and so filling!

They really packed the nutrition in these bars, making them perfect for refueling while on-the-go. Each bar contains 10g of protein, 5g of fiber and a quarter cup of vegetables!

The V8 Protein Shakes come in chocolate, vanilla and chocolate raspberry — a serious treat when you are away from home. I am much more a vanilla fan than chocolate when it comes to protein drinks so I cracked that baby open before we even left the house. ooops! IT WAS SO GOOD. I also tried the chocolate raspberry, also amazing. Typically, my protein drinks tend to be a bit grainy no matter how much I blend in the Vitamix, so I was surprised by the creaminess. Dreamy creamy.

Each shake contains12g of protein, 3g of fiber, a quarter cup of vegetables and as much calcium and Vitamin D as a glass of milk. Keep in mind neither the bar or shake have high fructose in them, rather they are sweetened with honey sugar and brown rice syrup. Perfect rushed-out-the-door breakfast!

    Wow! These look really good. We only get the V8 fruit drinks in Australia. I really hope we’ll get these products on the Australia shelf soon.
