preparing for overnight guests: bathroom edition {clean}

I’m sharing how I prepare my bathroom for overnight guests with Zep PowerFoam Tub, and Tile Cleaner as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars #ZepSocialstars

Tomorrow I will be sharing how I spruce up my guestroom in preparation for overnight guests.  While this is important, any guest will tell you the bathroom clean-up is even more important.  There isn’t much worse than staying in a home with a dirty guest bathroom, am I right?

The first step to preparing a bathroom to be guest-ready is to clean.  If you generally maintain your bathroom, this doesn’t need to be a huge task, especially when you have a shortcut or two.  I’m the type of person who gets skeeved out easily by grime but I also don’t like to scrub things… the lazy OCD type, if you will.  Luckily, Zep always has me covered with easy cleaning solutions, today: Zep PowerFoam Tub and Tile Cleaner.  No scrubbing needed.

Simply spray down your shower or tub (spray the sinks too) and wait.  Then wipe off the dissolved soap scum, calcium deposits, lime scale and general day to day grime.  In our last house we had a lot of hard water build up that this cleaner would have been great for!  Luckily in this home, we have a water softening system.  Cleaning is much easier with one installed! I love how this cleaner, which has a fresh, morning rain fragrance, really gets into the tile groves and dissolves hard-to-clean spots.  Life saver!

Generally, I don’t like to keep many things out on the sink/vanity area.  Bathroom clutter adds that extra step to cleaning I so very much dislike.  However, when guests are coming I leave items out that they may need.  If you don’t, you may end up with guests rooting through cabinets and drawers to find hairdryers and towels.  Your bathroom amenities shower bar contents may shift according to who is coming (male/female, kids, etc) but I have the same basic set up for everyone.  My girlfriend is coming out solo from Los Angeles this week and this is the amenities bar I’ve set out for her.

Hair styling tools, shower products and post-shower products are the general key players, along with fresh towels and lots of water.  Succulents bring a little life to the arrangement – I put them everywhere in my home – a candle or two for mood lighting and you are good to go.  A must for me (as a washcloth hater) is a nice, NEW <– definitely new body scrub or loofah.  I love these detoxifying charcoal kind at the moment.
