how to organize school and fall sports schedules

Here we go!  Ready or not, school and fall sports are about to begin (have already begun for some) and I know you want to start off organized.  The fall season can be SO overwhelming if you are not prepared.  I’m a little nervous as my baby starts school and sports this year, adding a lot more to our family schedule.  At least I have a brand new Samsung Galaxy S8+ to keep us organized, arriving on time and selfie-ready.

I am a HUGE Samsung Galaxy fan.  I made the switch many moons ago and would never opt for another brand or model.  I have been needing to upgrade – like bad – so when this opportunity came up to upgrade my old GS5 for a GS8+, I jumped for joy.  Even though I couldn’t wait to upgrade, my old model was working just fine and so it was passed down to my daughter.  Samsung Galaxy phones are such great quality – they just last forever!

This brings me to my very first suggestions for getting organized and prepared for the busy school year:

get the best tools

The best place to start when you want to get organized is with the right tools.  While I love my random, cute notepads lying around the house, I’d be completely lost (literally) without my smartphone.  I’m recommending the Samsung Galaxy S8+ my personal choice for many reasons.  The SG8+ has a super powerful processor, a large Infinity screen, is full of helpful built-in apps and is even water-resistant (because we all know accidents happen with kids around).  Another perk is super fast, wireless charging.  This hectic season waits for no slow phone to charge!

list and note-taking apps

Do a little research online to see what schedule organizers you like best.  I used to be quite obsessed with EverNote which is a cloud-based note taking app.  You can use it to set reminders, create audio, text or handwritten notes.  You can also clip from the internet, saving anything you find for later, all organized with your notebooks, images etc. Wunderlist or Google Keep are also great but now that I have this new SG8+ I’m using Samsung Notes to stay organized.

calendar apps

Having an easy-to-navigate calendar app is of the utmost importance, so find one that works for you.  Personal assistant apps often have great calendars as well.  I like to use Jorte Calendar & Organizer, which syncs with your phone’s existing calendar.

photo memories

Often times I set visual reminders on my phone instead of typing out text.  As photographers (both my husband and I) taking quality images is super important to me.  I never want to miss out on a special moment – from school to after school sports and clubs – and I don’t always have a DSLR.  The SG8+ has a killer camera that works awesome in low lighting and takes vibrant, crisp images.  It also features a front-facing selfie camera that makes taking a selfie just about anywhere, doing anything, super easy.  Don’t worry about all of the photos that you’re now all taking, you can expand your storage up to 256GB with a microSD card swap, sold separately.

put the kids to work

For those with older kids with busy schedules, have them also keep track of their obligations.  My daughter is new to having a phone and one of the rules was she has to keep an organized school/sports/social schedule.  The best tool for this is just the built-in calendar – simple and to the point, it is great for kids and adults alike.

breathe, just breathe

Remember to not over-schedule you or your kids this season – enjoy life.  Keep it packed full of fun adventures and learning experiences but don’t forget to breathe and take down-time as a family.  Your health and stress levels are very important to monitor and the SG8+ can even help you with that.  I am in love with Samsung Health which can help you keep track of your everyday stats, activities and milestones.  Track the steps you take running around, the amount of water you’re drinking, the quality of sleep you’re getting, even your heart rate, stress levels and the oxygen in your blood!

Get ready for those priceless back-to-school memories and photos!  A hectic schedule always means “hurry up and wait” – waiting for the carpool, the bus, for class or practice to end… enjoy the SG8+ ultra fabulous camera features!
