cool weather sleeping bags for kids {Eureka!}

My childhood is filled with amazingly happy memories of camping with my family.  I wholeheartedly believe that those trips, time spent together, are the basic molecules of a functioning family.  The destination doesn’t always matter, but those moments spent away from home, away from work, they are the best bits of life!  I know camping may not be for everyone, but we love it.  There is something about getting back to the basics that thrills me.  I love the fresh air, the gorgeous scenery, the wildlife sounds, and the breezy days spent hiking and biking.  We were lucky enough to recently zip off to Joshua Tree NP, a truly unique and wonderful spot.  The park itself is enormous (larger than Rhode Island) and depending on where you stay, the foliage and weather is totally varied.  We stayed up in the Northwest part where the Joshua Trees (Yucca) are abundant, and the wildlife is a plenty.  The weather in April is quite perfect.  Since it is part of the high desert, the days are super warm and the nights are chilly.  Of course during our stay a storm blew in, quite literally.  The wind was WILD and for awhile I was positive the wind was going to simply blow us off the mountain.  It was fierce.  I was sure glad that I had previously decided my 4 year old needed a warmer sleeping bag.

Eureka! is a brand that campers already trust, and their kids sleeping bags are no different.  We tested out the Lady Bug 30° F mummy style bag  (for cool weather).  Any lower than that, and my daughter wouldn’t want to be out there.  The sleeping bags come in two colors, grasshopper and lady bug.  My daughter slept comfortably and soundly every night of our trip.  The material is soft and she stayed warm, even during the hurricane-like winds of the high desert at night.  In fact, the material is the exact same used in adult models, featuring the Eureka! ThermaShield Insulation.  The side zipper is covered at the top with a Velcro flap.  Along the length of the zipper runs an insulated Draft Tube that will prevent drafts from seeping through the zipper.  There is also an internal pocket to stash away a favorite bit (where my daughter kept her lip balm). All in all, this is the perfect sleeping station for your little camper, whether it be in the woods or in your backyard. Keep your kids warm and snugly on your next trip outdoors with Eureka! sleeping bags.  Check out all of their other wonderful products at EurekaTent.com.
