Healthy and Fabulous Holiday Hair {Alberto VO5}

VO5 hot oils used to be part of my summer routines to help keep the natural oils in my hair after swimming every day. VO5 has stood the test of time and has even upped their game recently with a new line of VO5 Salon Series™ professional shampoos, conditioners, hair styling and treatments. This new line is packed with 11 natural vitamin oils and 5 Essential Vitamins to help fortify and moisturize your hair.

The Salon Series Leave-In Conditioner won the 2013 Best Leave-In Conditioner Award from AllYou Best Beauty Buys and the Color Shield Conditioner won Self Magazine’s 2013 Healthy Beauty Award for best Color Enhancing Conditioner. Pretty impressive awards!

I have to say that the price point on these items are pretty fantastic. The smell is a very fragrant floral scent that people rave over. My hubby is a huge fan of the Perfect Hold Styling Gel and Hairspray. The products have a very thick consistency, you can really feel the nutrients packed in there. I have extremely sensitive skin, so unfortunately the products did not work well for me and flared my eczema a bit. Even some of the most expensive items on the market will flare my skin, so I have to be pretty careful.

Definitely check out VO5’s new Salon Series the next time your regular shampoos, conditioner and styling products run out. My daughter LOVES the Leave-In conditioner and it makes combing through her hair a breeze! Check out some fabulous hair care tips below from Nina Sutton for gorgeous holiday hair for New Years Eve!

Healthy and Fabulous Holiday Hair Care Tips for Alberto VO5
By Nina Sutton, author of The Chic Mom’s Guide to Feeling Fabulous

Tip #1:
Traveling during the holidays is inevitable, so be prepared for any situation! Many hotels (or in-laws) most likely won’t have products for that fabulous color-treated hair of yours so make sure to bring your own shampoo and conditioner. Don’t forget to pack some leave-in conditioner too for added moisture and protection during these dry months.

Tip #2:
Between dry climate, sun exposure and winter conditions (think snow, rain, wind and more), hair can get pretty damaged! Bring conditioning treatments like VO5’s Simply Stunning Leave-In Conditioner to keep your hair moisturized and healthy 24/7.

Tip #3:
Busy women often head straight to their holiday parties from work, so make sure you keep your styling products on hand during these hectic months. Two essential products include anti-frizz and shine creams (to smooth your hair for the perfect ponytail or revitalize your limp curls) and hairspray (to make that chic-chignon stay in place all night long or add volume to your voluptuous curls).

Tip #4:
This time of year we use flat and curling irons almost every day, which leaves your hair brittle, dull and dry. Keep your hair looking healthy without the expensive salon visit by doing a moisturizing mask two times week. You can also use a leave-in conditioner after the shower and before you use heat tools.

Looking for moisture in other parts of your life? Don’t forget to up your daily water intake every day and add a humidifier to your room for added infused moisture. Your skin will thank you!

Tip #5:
Oils are all the rage in skincare these days and they are great for your hair as well. During the busy holiday season, take a moment to pamper your scalp and hair in the shower by using a hot-oil treatment. Massage the oil into your scalp down to the ends of your hair to revitalize your hair and senses. Your hair and mind will be less frazzled!

Tip #6:
Holiday hair styles are all about volume; but we often lose the shine that we crave once we get the oomph! Look for products that deliver both volume and shine for healthy, sexy, bombshell hair. For easy volume, start with a full-body shampoo and conditioner. Next, apply mousse to damp hair and either air or blow dry hair. Finally, for added volume, after drying hair, flip your head upside down and spray hairspray; flip your head back for festive fullness.

Tip #7:
Busy women like you (especially moms!) don’t have the time to deal with damaged, dull hair; so the products you use should do the work for you! Look for products that contain vitamins and oils to strengthen and hydrate your hair. That way you can focus on everything else that goes along with the holidays!

Tip #8:
This holiday season, make easy updates to your hair by investing in fabulous hair accessories like embellished head bands, barrettes, clips and ponytail holders. Women with long hair can finishing any look with a jeweled headband. Women with short hair can slick hair to the side with gel, followed by a crystal or embellished barrette.
