Green Fundraising {Botanical PaperWorks}

Botanical PaperworksBack to School and you know what that means–massive fundraising events.  Stay away from the candybars, gourmet lollipops, snacks, and cookie dough tubs–yes, these are all popular fundraising programs used in our schools.  Do you notice a trend there, because I do–fat and sugar.  In a time where childhood obesity is in widespread panic mode, the last thing we need to be doing is promoting unhealthy, processed foods for profits.  This merely gives the children (and obese clients) an incentive to eat these “foods”.  I don’t invision healthy food options raising as much profits at this point, although a Farmer’s Market fundraiser sounds like a really fun idea to me!

What if we stayed away from the American Obsession, food, altogether and went another route.  Sure magazine subscriptions are an option, but think of all that wasted paper most people don’t even read.  An eco-friendly and health-friendly product would be ideal, which may seem impossible.  This year, consider Botanical PaperWorks, a company I have featured here on ITKM before.  They are an amazing company who produce plantable paper products embedded with seeds.   The paper itself is biodegradable and is made from post-consumer materials–no trees harmed for this paper!  Once you have enjoyed your card, simply plant it and enjoy the flowers, herbs, or vegetables that grow.  The card just composts away.

Botanical Paperworks The brilliant company Botanical PaperWorks has decided to start their own Green Fundraising Program.  With this program, you can raise funds for your school, sports team, or youth group with seed products that grow into beautiful flowers.  The products are locally-made and eco-friendly, reinforcing your organization’s commitment to being green and socially responsible.  love it.  With the Botanical PaperWorks program, you will earn 40% commission, no matter how much you sell (no earning curves).  BP has organized two Green Fundraising Programs: one for fall and one for spring.  Fall program runs from September till December, and the Spring program runs from January till June.  For the fall program, I think it is pretty obvious what products to pump the hardest during promotion–Holiday Cards and Gift Tags!  Let your holiday greetings be full of cheer and seeds!  Another great item for the season is a 2012 calendar, which you can plant each month of as it ends.   As it is also tis’ the season for school, notebooks are another great sell for fall.

For more information, please check out Botanical PaperWorks’ Info Guide and Product Brochure for the fundraisers.  Please notify your schools and organizations of the hip new way to raise funds.  We have a responsibility to not only our Earth, but also our kids.  Let’s teach them the value of replenishing their homeland, not adding to the garbage piles.
