good clean fun {FireFly Toothbrushes}

As we come to the end of February, National Children’s Oral Health Month, it’s important to remember our kids oral health is our responsibility all year.  Hurried, insufficient brushing is one of the major causes of early childhood cavities, so make it as fun as possible with FireFly oral care products, sent for review.

Let’s face it.  Kids see brushing their teeth as another chore of the day, just like making the bed and tying their shoes.  The easiest way to keep kids interested in brushing (properly) is to make it fun with products from companies like FireFly.  FireFly has an unprecedented amount of interactive toothbrushes that kids LOVE (#1 selling kids toothbrush in the US).  The biggest complaint from parents is that their kids don’t want to brush long enough.  Toothbrushes like the FireFly Ready Go Brush and the FireFly Light-Up Timer Toothbrush encourage kids to brush for a proper amount of time… in a fun, its-like-a-game way.

The FireFly Light-Up Timer Toothbrush is sparkly and it lights up for the full recommended two minutes.  You child simply pushes the button on the front, the brush lights up for one minute (top teeth) they push it again and it lights up for the remainder minute, time they need to spend on the bottom teeth.  Its soft, high quality Dupont bristles massage young gums, never harsh or damaging.  the toothbrush is a perfect size for little hands and after approx. 3 months, the lights stop working — your indicator that it is time for a new toothbrush.  Hey, it even helps us parents stay on the ball!

Who here loves red light, green light?  The FireFly Ready Go Brush is a mega fun addition to any child’s bathroom.  My daughter is completely obsessed with the Barbie and Hello Kitty varieties, but Spiderman and Angry Birds are also super cool.  Same idea here, this toothbrush lights up green for 30 seconds, changes to yellow to signal brushing is halfway over and then red to stop.  Repeat for the other row of teeth.  This one gives your really impatient kid the “it’s ALMOST over” signal, which is a crowd-pleaser.  Even the soft, high quality bristles are red, yellow and green — fun!

Both of these toothbrushes has suction cup bottoms, which I LOVE.  I cannot stand toothbrushes just lying around — who knows what they are being exposed to?  I’m not that fond of toothbrush holders either, which when not cleaned often, can harbor some really icky things.  Suction cups!  Can we please have this design for adult toothbrushes as well?!  So easy for kids to just stick upright and go, the bristles stay up in the air, away from moisture and germs.

Flossing comes next, a continued struggle, and then my daughter’s favorite part — mouth rinse!  The FireFly Angry Birds Anti-Cavity Mouth Rinse is a flouride rinse featuring either Stella or Red Bird.  It is sugar-free, alcohol-free and provides long-lasting anti-cavity protection.  The unique thing about this rinse is the “no mess” cup, conveniently located in the bottom front of the bottle.  This ensures proper measurement and a clutter-free sink.  Flavors are bubble gum or Stellaberry. Recommended for kids 6+ under adult supervision.
