{DIY} pretend play makeup

It is inevitable if you wear makeup, your little one will want to as well.  My four year old begs for a brush of bronzer and goes through tubes of lip balm faster than I do.  But what to do when she wants to play with makeup during dress-up sessions in her room?  I can’t have lipstick smears and eye shadow powder stains all over the place.  I learned my lesson fast that makeup needs to be out of reach when I walked in on my daughter trying to smear eyeliner on our (prom-ready) cat–scary for mom and even more so the cat.  I did a quick search online and found the most amazing tutorial from Not So Idle Hands.   While these products will not rouge their cheeks, they will excite the imagination, which is what’s important here.   My daughter is blissful, my expensive makeup is safe, and the cat, well we don’t have to worry about eye patches for him anymore.

*Simply clean out old makeup compacts, pour in old or cheap nail polishes, allow to dry for at least three days.  For a more in depth tutorial, head over here.
