A Comfortable Fall {Mom’s The Word}

October is here and in southern California, the air is finally cooling off with no signs of its departure.  A huge fan of fall maternity clothing, I have been waiting, rather impatiently I admit, for this moment to share my picks from a favorite boutique, Mom’s The Word. Mom’s The Word selects only top quality maternity wear for you to choose from and they cover it all, from basics to beyond.  Excellent customer service guarantees a pleasant experience in this shop and you’ll leave with items that truly help celebrate pregnancy.

I always look forward to cords in fall.  Corduroy just feels essentially autumn to me so I exclusively reserve the fabric for the season.  Hoping to expand the cords into winter, I opted for the Skinny Leg Cord in black — how fab will they look with a festive holiday top?  Cords luckily go with most everything, making them an essential maternity bottom.  Pair them with a variety of colors, textures and styles for a comfortable, casual yet pulled together look. The Skinny Leg Cord by Olian is a super duper comfortable option that flatters by streamlining legs.  The design is top notch and fits like a great pair of everyday cords you wore before pregnancy.  I refuse to accept “they are great for maternity pants” because that is settling.  Truth is, you can wear these cords pregnant or not and that makes them simply fabulous.  The waist is soft and allows for growth without the need for a full panel.  It stretches and has no harsh, constricting (red line causing) band while still allowing you to wear a belt. I think the black is awesome because you can really dress them up, but olive is also an option and looks really fabulous with the earthy tones of fall.

If corduroy says fall, beautiful heavy knits scream it.  So in love with the gorgeous Cowl Poncho but still battling the summer heat of southern California, I turned on the air conditioning.  Yes, not very green of me, but this poncho’s texture is so richly soft and the design so comfortable, I easily rationalized it.  Great to throw over a cami or tee, the Cowl Poncho  will be an instant go-to for fall.  Paired with the previously mentioned cords, you are so fall and so comfortably chic.  High quality knit and a large cowl really creates an elegant look for this poncho.  And while it’s like the poncho and cords were made to be together, the poncho looks stunning with skinny denim.  I happen to not love a free flowing poncho and crave sleeve definition.  The Cowl Poncho gives you the easy, flattering fit but with designated areas for the arms.  And here is what I like best, feel free to wear this beauty post-pregnancy, in fact, I encourage it.

The sweater dress is a fall essential, and my pick from Mom’s The Word is their own Colorblock Dress.  Pregnancy affords a bit of freedom when it comes to colors and designs in my book, and a great way to show this off is colorblocking.  Take advantage of this style before it is out with the Colorblock Dress, a MOM creation.  Featuring black, grey, white and tomato, this dress is a beautiful find.  Pair it with black opaque tights and boots and walk out the door.  The fabric is soft and a great thickness, not too thick and suffocating, which is great because this dress does feature a turtleneck.  It has found its way into my life as a dress great for a meeting that I won’t want to strip off as soon as I get home.  Comfortable for all day, I end up running my errands on days I’m wearing this sweater dress, it’s that cute.

I feel like maybe I should have started my picks with the Mom’s Stella Shirred Top, but it gives me a chance to finish strong.  This is a top that every pregnant, not pregnant, thinking of becoming pregnant woman should own.  You should own it in every color.  I know I have said all previous items are soft, and they are, but this long sleeved top is like butter.  Two layers of incredibly soft modal will make this top hard to take off.  The double-weight plays a crucial part in the overall quality feel of the top.  Something to definitely note: the Stella top is designed to be able to wear two ways: with the scoop in the front or in the back.  I was skeptical when I first heard this but the top truly does seamlessly transition in this way.  The Stella Shirred Top is quite possibly the most perfect long sleeved maternity top.  Available in a few colors, go ahead an pick up each.
