Shaklee Biodegradable Wipes & Super Cleaning Concentrates {green living}

Earth Day is quickly approaching and I hope you are already thinking of ways to improve your environment.  By environment I don’t just mean outside, but also inside your home.  There are many ways to take on a more eco-conscious lifestyle, one being choosing responsible household cleansers.  Take a good look at the cleaners you are using daily in your home.  For me, finding the right household cleaners is triple-fold and Shaklee hits every bullet point – natural ingredients, eco-friendly packaging, and effectiveness.  Founded more than 50 years ago, Shaklee is a leading provider of premium-quality natural nutrition, personal care, and environmentally friendly home care products– a trusted name that I could not wait to put to the test!

Shaklee’s Get Clean products are packaged in recyclable containers and bottles, which is very important.  To go a step further, Shaklee sells a concentrate that can be used to create three different types of cleaners.  That is nothing short of brilliant.  With the Get Clean Basic H2 Organic Super Cleaning Concentrate, you get a nontoxic, natural, biodegradable surfactants formula that can handle most any job.  Purchase the pack of three reusable spray bottles to create an All-Purpose cleaner, Window cleaner, and Degreaser. The all-purpose cleaner removes dirt, grease, and grime from any washable surface in your home.  It leaves no residue or streaks, making it a perfect window/mirror cleaner.  You will use different ratios of the concentrate and water to create your products.  Since you are using a concentrate and reusable spray bottles, you are seriously cutting down on the bottle waste in the landfill (and beyond).  One 16oz bottle creates 48 gallons of safe yet powerful all-purpose cleaner.   Look at how little you actually will be using of the concentrate:

For all-purpose cleaning:
Add 1/4 tsp. to 16 oz. of water.

For windows and mirrors:
Add 1-2 drops to 16 oz. of water.

For degreasing:
Add 1 1/2 tsp. to 16 oz. of water. For bigger jobs, add 2 oz. to 1 gallon of water.

Of course it is important to find out if the product actually does the trick.  I have tried many “green” cleaners over the years with mixed results.  While many products indeed do not harm the environment, they also do not do any good in your home.  If this is your desired result then why use a cleaner at all?  We are parents; we have children; children have germs.  It is important to keep our surroundings safe for the well-being of our families.  We also want streak-free windows, shiny counter tops, and grime-less pots.  Is that so much to ask for?

Shaklee Get CleanWith Shaklee Get Clean products, you can have it all.  The convenience of disposable wipes cannot be denied.  I forgo them long ago in an effort to cut out wasteful items that just lie in the landfills.  But every so often I think back fondly to the ease of the wipes, especially when it comes to my daughter’s daily messes.  Get Clean Basic H2 Organic Super Cleaning Wipes are not only amazing at cleaning up messes, they are also biodegradable.  As with the other products, they are also nontoxic and all natural.  These all-purpose wipes are perfect for most rooms in any house.  Fantastic in the kitchen for countertops and sinks, stellar in the bathroom for mirrors and tile, amazing in the car for dashboard and windows, these wipes can be taken anywhere.  When using these wipes on mirrors or other reflective surfaces, follow with a dry cloth.  When you are done with the wipe, toss it into the recycle bin – yes, the recycle bin!  Wipes are 80% paper, 20% polypropylene and totally recyclable.  These are large, durable 7”x 8” wipes.

I mentioned germs before, which is something many “green” cleaners cannot tackle.  Germs are everywhere and they are a formidable opponent.  Crush their existence and maintain a clear conscious with Get Clean Germ Off Disinfecting Wipes.  These fragrance free wipes kill 99.9% of Salmonella and E. coli.  While they are considered “limited disinfectants” they cover big deal germs, especially in the kitchen and bathroom.  These wipes kill odor-causing bacteria found on non-porous surfaces like countertops, sinks, floors, exterior toilet bowls, trash cans, changing tables, doorknobs…all of those famous germ hangouts.  They manage to get the job done without bleach or alcohol.

The last product I want to share with you is the Get Clean Scour Off Heavy-Duty Paste.  One thing that other “green” cleaners often cannot cover are the hard jobs.  You rarely hear “green” and “heavy-duty” in the same sentence, but it applies here!  This paste is nontoxic and contains no harsh chemicals, meaning no fume to burn your eyes and singe your nose hairs.  What it will do is get off baked-on and even burnt food on your dishes and oven.  A green oven cleaner?  Shocking, I know.  It is great for extraordinarily sticky messes that kids (or sloppy cooks) can make.  Outside of the kitchen, Scour Off can remove stains from tough bathroom and floor surfaces, and even scrub off rust.  This amazing product is made from natural mineral abrasives and biodegradable cleaning agents. It does not contain chlorine, bleach, or dye.  No phosphates can be found in any of the aforementioned products.

Look to Shaklee for your green clean needs (they cover it all).  Follow Shaklee on Facebook for the insider scoop on new products and promotions.
