Asian Fish Tacos with Bok Choy Slaw {Kraft Recipe Makers}

There was a time when I foolishly thought two kids would be easier than one.  I really believed that, and while they do occupy each other at times, I’ve never been more busy in my life.  Getting real meals on the table every night is a stretch, but somehow we make it work.  A new tool in my pantry of tricks is Kraft Recipe Makers, a meal maker kit with two delicious sauces and three yummy recipes, found at Safeway.

Removing the process of developing layered sauces really cuts down on meal prep time, which is exactly what Kraft Recipe Makers offers.  Kraft Recipe Makers come in seven tasty varieties and I had a hard time choosing which flavor to go with.  Ultimately I went with the one that peaked my interest most, Asian Fish Tacos.  I live in Southern California and we love our fish tacos!  I just had to give this one a try.

Each Kraft Recipe Makers lists the ingredients you’ll need to complete the meal on the back.  This makes grocery shopping for dinner a breeze.  There are two more recipes inside, offering you extra ways to mix up dinner.  Choose a kit that suits your preferred cooking method (skillet, slow cooker, oven).  The recipes are simple, utilizing fresh produce to create inexpensive and easy dinners.

Let’s get going on these Asian Tacos!  Start with a fish you enjoy, tilapia or mahi mahi work well here.  I opted for some gorgeous mahi mahi fillets, nice and meaty.

The Asian Ginger Baking Sauce coats the fish so well as it is thick…really clings and is packed with flavor.  After a dip in the sauce, bread the fillets with panko and bake for 10 minutes per inch of thickness.  Mine took about 25 minutes.

While the fish is baking away, mix together a slaw with the Creamy Teriyaki Finishing Sauce. I decided to sub out the pre-assembled cabbage slaw for an easy bok choy slaw.  I just can’t get enough of raw bok choy, so crisp and refreshing. I created my slaw from thinly sliced bok choy, diced red onion and spiralized carrots. simple.  delicious.

Mix together your slaw with the Creamy Teriyaki Finishing Sauce found in the kit. I couldn’t believe how perfect this sauce worked with my bok choy slaw!  So yum.  asian bok choy slaw recipe in_the_know_mom

Now, assemble your tacos!  I was in a hard shell mood today, but these are also fab with warm soft tortillas.  Garnish with chopped cilantro and a squeeze of lime if you have it on hand.  I always make sure I do!

So how does it taste? SO GOOD!  The fish is tangy and crispy while the slaw is punchy and bright.  It is a pretty exceptional fish taco, especially considering how easy it is to create.  I was impressed with the Kraft Recipe Makers and will be purchasing more varieties to try very soon.

    That looks SO good!! I could eat just the coleslaw. YUM!! I haven’t heard of this meal kit before, it looks like something my family would enjoy. Thanks for sharing!

      I made extra coleslaw as a side — it’s that good! The Recipe Makers are very new… keep an eye out next grocery run! =)

    Looks delicious, especially the coleslaw. I will have to look for the recipe makers at the store, I am always looking for cooking shortcuts.
