My daughter is a snacker, always has been and even though her pediatrician didn’t seem worried, internally I always was. When I first saw the Nibble Tray created by Dr. Sears in his products by Zak! line I knew it was right up my snackers alley. Along with the products you receive from Dr. Sears, they include a small packet that discusses eating habits and tips. He actually recommends that children graze on frequent meals throughout the day versus sitting down for three large meals. That grazing allows a child’s digestive system to work better and provides a slow and steady supply of fuel for their brain. Not only that, but big meals trigger reflux in a lot of children and grazers tend to suffer less because meals pass more quickly through the stomach and are easier to digest. Plus it’s great for maintaining a healthy weight by controlling your child’s metabolism better. I can’t begin to tell you how amazing this made me feel as a mother of a grazer. I used to worry that she ate this way, now I’m happy she does!
The Nibble Tray by Zak! has several little compartments so that you can add a variety of foods for them to snack on. I love that each compartment has a small raised section with hints to help you provided a well balanced snack, whether it’s dairy, veggies, fruit or even bread. The green removable stem of the pineapple tray is weighted and keeps items cooler, so it’s perfect for yogurt, applesauce or even dips for the veggies. His handy sheet helps guide you with ideas for “Grow Foods” that you can add to the trays and reminds you to try new foods several times. That’s the great thing about this tray. I add one new item for her every time she has it. This way all the focus isn’t on that item, but it’s just added for her to try along with all her other favorites. She LOVES this tray and so do I!

Summer time is here and I get in the mood for smoothies. Sometimes healthy veggie smoothies other times fruit smoothies. I used to have one major issue….I never had a good cup to use for smoothies! I’d always just pour them into a glass and deal with the frustrations of it not being the best tool for the job. Dr. Sears’ Smoothie Sipper is perfect!! It comes with a thick enough straw so that it’s easy for your child to suck up the thick drinks without sucking so hard that they lose interest. Smoothies are a great way to sneak in some “Grow Foods” as well and the packet has a few suggestions to sneak into your smoothies. I think my only wish is that the straw had a tiny ridge around it so that it doesn’t pull out of the cup, because for some reason, toddlers insist on yanking straws out of their glasses. These two items from Zak! truly have given me new ways to add variety and fun with healthy items into my toddlers routine.
