artisan made, baby loved {WE’VE Built}
This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and WE’VE Built but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #GiftaStory http://cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO
Back in 2009 when Erin and I started this blog, so much of our main goal was to find unique toys with unique stories — those keepsake-quality items without flashing lights and toxins. We looked for things others had never seen before, toys, decor and clothing from around the globe or handcrafted here in the US.
Our secondary cause has always been to highlight companies who are eco-friendly and socially conscious, companies making the choice to be a part of the solution. WE’VE Built is why we started this blog, and I’m happy to get back to our roots with this post.
WE’VE Built is a collaboration within a global community that connects diverse, talented and skilled people together with a common goal of creating gorgeous, quality products. WE’VE Built incorporates sustainability, on many fronts, storytelling and design, as portrayed by Short Horn, a gift for my baby, Gabriel this season. Just look at him!
Often times, “hand-made” comes with a sacrifice of quality or sophistication, but you cherish those items anyway. With WE’VE Built, there are no compromises as these skilled artisans truly create high-design in jewelry, accessories and whimsical creatures, as well as top-notch quality.
Short Horn feels magical to me. I can see the character, personality and cultural influences woven through him and it is so special. He has life, unlike the dead-eyed stuffed animals from big box stores. Often times, I find stuffed animals quite sad… no personality, no originality. Short Horn is a statement piece for any nursery.
Here is how it works. You browse the WE’VE Built website and fall in love with an item. Pre-order that beloved item and share with friends. Once the minimum quantity has been reached, your CC is charged and the process begins! The artisans will send you photos and videos along the way, building the item’s back-story. Then it arrives on your doorstep and you smile, because the anticipation and the story along the way have fueled your excitement.
What is Short Horn’s story?
Created with kapok fiber, cotton and natural dyes, he is stuffed with renewable fiber from the seed pods of the Kapok tree. These fibers are handwoven, supporting weaving traditions and providing economic stability in Cambodia. The artisans and their children can be educated and live healthy lives because of this opportunity to show and prosper with their unparalleled skills.
Short Horn’s story doesn’t end there, though. Now he is with my sweet Gabriel, who cherishes him. He finds his tall horns comforting and strokes them as he falls asleep. I knew this would happen because Gabriel loves bunnies for their ears. He holds them when he’s tired, a good indicator for me that he is ready for naptime. With Short Horn, he can get an even better grip — it was love at first stroke!
Cookie/drool face!
I’m sorry, Short Horn, he’s a biter. Thank goodness SH is built tough!
