Fall weather is here/coming depending on where you live. I live in blazing hot Palm Springs, a desert city in Southern California. Things were cooling off and then this past week a heat wave hit that knocked us on our butts. You better believe I am so stoked for fall — it’s paradise here during the rest of the year and I especially treasure the autumn season.
In the desert the temperature really fluctuates. I can wake up and be out of the house at 8 when the morning is cool (like 75) and by midday its 100 and I’m peeling layers off. Then the sun goes down and I’m freezing. Layers. It’s all about layers during this transitional season. For fall I am loving olive. It never feels appropriate to wear olive in the summer, so I’m busting it out now in the form of my favorite corduroy leggings from SPANX… did you know SPANX sells leggings and jeans? To combat the ever-changing temperature in the desert, I paired my warm corduroy leggings with open shoes and a basic white tank. For the cooler nights, I grabbed a sleeveless, open, knit sweater and leopard print scarf. I love to mix textures and prints in the fall! Of course, accessories make the outfit and this pair of brown/light pink tortoise frames just work perfectly. It’s tortoise with a bit of girly fun — great twist on a classic frame!
When fall comes around, out come the knits, the jewel tones, the earth tones, the boots and booties… such a fun time for fashion. I started with the most basic outfit, jeans and a camisole, and layered with a trendy ikat print scarf and an easy on/off wool jacket. I love the layering of textures and prints, especially in cooler weather. Accessories really make the outfit, so I added gorgeous lace-up booties, a burgundy patent clutch and a smart pair of bebe glasses (that offer a pop of mint — love mint with burgundy!).

I love the idea of navy glasses! Not quite as harsh as black, and you could still wear them with brown. I need new glasses, so I think those might be my next pair.
