skinny cocktails with a modern water filter {Soma}

This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and Soma, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #givesoma  http://cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO.

Filtering water has never looked so modern, so sleek — so beautiful.  Here in the desert, the water is pretty awful.  It is cloudy and full of minerals — it’s actually fizzy right out the tap.  I know, crazy, but true. We have been through all types of water filters but the Soma tops them all.  It creates deliciously taste-free filtered water and it looks amazing on my table — and with its six 8 ounce glass capacity, it is the perfect filter for entertaining.

If you follow my posts, you know my style leans heavily towards modern minimalist.  I like stylized clean lines and clutter-free zones.  My chosen city of Palm Springs is just the perfect fit for this style, the mid-century modern mecca that it is.  Just come to an estate sale and you’ll see the residents here have been the hippest for years.  The Soma water filter was made for this town.  Its  handcrafted glass carafe is so beautiful and modern, yet very functional.  It looks awesome as our new table-top water filter and I cannot wait to show it off at upcoming dinner parties.  Holding about six 8 ounce glasses of water, it is perfect for any gathering.  It also filters super fast, making it easier on the hostess.

The Soma is not just another water filtration system.  It is unique, and not just aesthetically.  The world’s leading expert in water filtration designed the biodegradable filters — yes, I said biodegradable!  The all-natural filter is made from Malaysian coconut shell carbon, four layers of fine silk, and a plant-based filter casing.  Something about that actually makes water taste better — so crisp and pure.  Soma is also involved in charity work and each filter you buy helps bring safe, drinkable water to those in need.  It’s hard to believe over 800 million people still do not have access to clean drinking water… mind-boggling, but Soma (and customers like you) teamed up with Charity:Water and are making huge strides — check out this short, heart-warming video.

Here in Palm Springs, the folks love their booze just as much as their mid-century furniture.  We also are a health-conscious bunch and cut calories wherever we can. Know how to make a cocktail skinny?  Add water.  Subtract sugars and add water.  It’s pretty simple.  Why Sarah (you say), wouldn’t that drink taste watered-down?  The answer is no. Just pack your cocktail with flavor.

My husband is/was a bartender and we are always creating new cocktails.  Now that fall is here and we are looking forward to winter, our cocktails are getting very seasonal.  The other day I bought a bag of fresh cranberries.  Tis’ the season, right? And then today, I was trying to think of a nice skinny cocktail and it all clicked.

Let’s muddle the tart cranberry with a sweet honey crisp apple… oh and definitely add some thyme.

Infused water is all the rage right now — no longer just for the spa, infusing water with fruits and herbs is a killer way to up your water intake.  I’m quite obsessed with it, lemons being my go-to, but let’s be a bit more festive.  How about the same trio from our cocktail?  Now that is super skinny.
