back to school with gorgeous ikat prints {Masala Baby}

Back to school shopping is an ongoing process for little fashionistas.  This fall my daughter is all about bold and bright patterns and comfortable fabrics… okay, me too!  Masala Baby is absolutey killing it with their Indian-inspired prints this fall, both dresses and new organic pajamas.  How hot is ikat right now?  I’m obsessed so this is a very picture-heavy post!

Let us start with the Rita Dress. Flared only at the bottom, this is an A-line dress with a flirty twist! It’s bright purple and fuchsia color palate is great for fall — who doesn’t love jewel tones as the weather cools?

Favorite dresses are always the twirly kind at the age of 7 (and 97). The Rita Dress has a great twirl to it… super fun for dancing and playing!

Made from a soft cotton that just gets softer as you wash it, the Rita is practical for all situations from casual to dressy.  It runs true to size and the colors are saturated and just gorgeous!

When kids feel good in their clothes, it comes out in the photos.  It is pretty apparent that my girl, Savannah, feels super gorgeous in her Masala Baby dresses — and, really, isn’t that the point of spending money on quality clothes for our kids?  They only have one childhood so make it a pretty one!

The next dress Savannah tested out is the Ziva Dress, part of the Caravan Collection.  The print is a chevron ikat in turqoise and blue and WOW so fun!

This is another A-Line dress, a favorite of mine as it is girly and flowy yet really easy to run around in.  …a dress for a free spirit!

Soft and casual, perfect for the classroom, the Ziva Dress can also be paired with a white long sleeve for the approaching cooler weather.  And to carry those school utensils and secret notes, this beauty has nice, big pockets.  Kids are always carrying things around so I’m a big fan of the feature.

Let’s take a moment and reflect on just how COOL this wall is in Palm Springs.  I drive past it every day but never photograph it… until now!  Artist cred: James Haunt.

So let’s jump to the gorgeous organic pajamas from Masala Baby!  My son lives in pajamas it sometimes seems.  I dress him nice in the morning, jeans, button-up shirt… but by noon he is covered in dirt and goo.  He relishes a mess! This means we have a lot of afternoon baths and at that point, well the pajamas go on often times.  Eh, he’s 1, why not be comfortable?

Just look at that yellow, orange and red painterly stripes pattern!  I mean, love.  This soft set can come with long or short sleeves.  We live in Palm Springs so, short sleeves are always better for us!

In long, Masala Baby offers gorgeous, inspired clothing for babies and kids, sizes 3 months to 10 years! The collection includes dresses, skirts, tunics, hoods, pants, tees, bodysuits, shirts, pajamas and accessories. The fabrics are exclusively sourced from India using only natural materials and constructed using traditional handloom, block print, hand screen, hand embroidery and applique techniques crafted by local artisans… hence the unique and vibrant apparel.  Keep up the good work, Masala Baby!!
