fall and holiday 2013 children’s collection {Ralph Lauren}

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Ralph Lauren.

In the true classic preppy style of the designer, Ralph Lauren, partnered with Elizabeth Street, hosted a “Day at the Stables” at the Wölffer Stables in Sagaponack, NY.  This presentation of the fall and holiday 2013 collection was purely for fashionable moms and their daughters.  The equestrian backdrop was certainly a fit and guests such as Jessica Alba, Christie Brinkley, Tiffany Thiessen and Edie Falco (with daughters all dressed in RL) all enjoyed much more than a runway show.  The extracurricular activities included: the first ever performance by Madison Beer, an Essie Nail Art Bar, Dylan’s Candy Bar, a photo booth and a hair braiding bar. Yeah, sounds like we all really missed out!

We recently moved to a new city, meaning my daughter has made new girlfriends.  She is rounding closer to her 7th birthday and fashion is a new and exciting world for her, like real fashion.  Her love of tutus and dress-up costumes has taken a backseat to analyzing the differences between slim and skinny jeans, filing her cardigans into a rainbow, and passing on her “baby hair clips” to our neighboring 4 year old.  We sat down together to have a look at the fall and holiday children’s collection from Ralph Lauren.  Need I say she was impressed?

My daughter and I watched the Day at the Stables show and were pointing at and pausing the video constantly.  I really enjoyed the 1930’s menswear inspiration, which was paired with just enough color and femininity for any girl.  The whole collection is very “back-to-school” and will fit into your daughter’s existing fall wardrobe.  I saw a couple essential pieces I loved, one the riding pants throughout the show.  They are definitely jodhpur inspired and my daughter needs them in every color – me too!  Another standout for me was the amazing motorcycle jacket.

Ralph Lauren, as always, was very on point with the fall trends I’ve been oohing over for myself.  Aside from the equestrian shout outs, I saw a lot of pattern mixing which is definitely very hot this season — leopard, florals, and classic prints like plaids and argyles all paired together in fall-friendly layers. The 30’s menswear inspiration is evident everywhere from head to neck to toe.

Of course, they did not forget the seasons emphasis on fashionable outerwear, including the motorcycle jacket I mentioned before, but also preppy blazers, stylized trenches and warm puffy jackets. Holiday velvet also made an appearance, my favorite being a dark wine velvet dress paired with jacket and slouchy hat (with pom!).  Ah… just watch:

The Ralph Lauren Girls Runway Show is launching today, along with exclusive video featuring Madison Beer’s first ever live performance.  Check out where you can also  download Madison’s new single, Melodies, free exclusively for one week. While there, be sure to check out the new fall 2013 collection and stock your daughter’s wardrobe for the upcoming season.  She will be the most fashionable one at school in these right-on-trend designs!

    Love these looks! They are so fun! Too bad my son is all about not wearing clothes right now! (He’s 2 so we’re okay!)

    My 8 year old daughter is a serious fashionista and LOVES Ralph Lauren. We watched this video several weeks ago and she did the same thing. Start. Pause. Start. Pause. Then she made a list of everything that she wanted.
