Let me start this post off with telling you a little bit about Sherri Sebastian, because she impresses the pants off of me. She was originally trained as a chemist, holds a degree in food science, she apprenticed to a wine maker in Europe, learning the subtleties of wine tasting. She then joined a flavor house in Brooklyn where she studied flavor composition and creation. She then worked at one of the premier fragrance houses of the world, where she apprenticed to top perfumers in the industry. Sherri took her well-trained ‘nose’ and decided to take all of her experiences and create her own luxury products for her own company, Sebastian Signs. Her products range from perfumes, to soaps, to candles.
I was particularly drawn to her Dream Extract Pillow Spray called Purusa. She came up with the idea eight years ago while traveling and I’m so extremely happy that she’s sharing it with the rest of the world. The reason it’s called a “luxury pillow spray” is due to the high quality ingredients. It contains Australian Sandalwood that comes from a sustainable supplier in Australia, Mt. Romance. For every tree they harvest for distillation, they plant 12 more. Plus they give royalties to the workers who harvest the land, and they use renewable energy sources to fuel the distillation process. The Clary Sage is Certified Organic and is sourced directly from France, where it is grown and extracted. The other ingredients add layers to the blend, giving it a sophistication that single notes alone aren’t able to deliver. Plus the spray can be used on your clothes, the air around you and even your couches!
I love that the scent of Purusa is absolutely intoxicating. It’s completely gender neutral and it’s not overpowering at all. Right before my daughter’s bed time, we all hop in our master bed and read stories before she heads to her room for the night. As part of our little ritual, I spray all of our pillows and she closes her eyes smelling her pillow as her Dad reads her the story she chose. The scent is absolutely soothing and rich.
