Poptropica Adventures {Nintendo DS}

poptropica 3ds review

Thank you to Ubisoft for sponsoring this post. Please click here to learn more about Ubisoft. I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective. #UbiChamps

Some of you parents may have already heard of Poptropica.  It is a new one for me but is a very popular online game that is now available for the portable DS (and compatible with the 3DS). With zero cartoon violence, this game is rated E for everyone and fun/challenging for grade school aged kids.  No worries with this one if you are concerned with the video games that come into your home!

Poptropica Adventures revolves around a museum in desperate need of help.  The player goes around to three different islands, via blimp, to find missing artifacts in order to restore the museum.  Along the way are puzzles and mini games, six different kinds in fact.  There are mazes and racing games, even ones where you have to dodge things being thrown at you — I think that one is my daughter’s favorite.

I love that the game is filled with actual artifacts, making it pretty educational, especially for my daughter who is on the young end of the spectrum. She goes off and plays this on her own (until she can’t read something) but I’ve noticed a lot of Greek mythology, which is awesome. It is a little history lesson along the way.

A favorite feature of Poptropica Adventures for my daughter (probably because she is a girl) is the fact you can create your own avatar.  She loves to customize her own character so this was a big win for the game with her.  My 6 year old has a great time with this game but it is challenging at times, nothing we can’t get through but definitely involves some effort (that’s a good thing).

So whether you already have a Poptropica fan or not, this is one to check out!  Purchase Poptropica Adventures on Amazon for about $30.

Product was provided by Ubisoft to facilitate this review; all opinions are 100% my own.

    I am so happy to read this. This is the kind of manual that needs to be given and not the accidental misinformation that is at the other blogs. Appreciate your sharing this best doc.
