personalize it! {Hiho Batik}

Looking for a fun way to show off your child’s artwork or maybe even give a loved one a customized gift? Hiho Batik provides a unique approach to personalizing items by batiking images into fabric products. Every item in their shop is handmade onsite. They offer a wide variety of products to choose from and even have options to personalize gifts for adults.

My 5 year old daughter has become quite the little artist in the last year. I am amazed by her drawings and really wanted to do something special for her besides just framing them. Hiho Batik offers an exciting alternative by taking your child’s artwork and transferring it onto an item of your choice, making it into a batiked masterpiece!Hiho_Pillow

It’s so simple to do!  My daughter and I chose two items for review; a pillow and a t-shirt. I took a picture of the drawings that I wanted to be transferred, uploaded the design onto their website and within a couple of weeks received the final products. I am absolutely thrilled with the outcome! I couldn’t believe how accurately they recreated her drawings.  My daughter loves her pillow and t-shirt.

The batik process is quite impressive. This ancient dyeing technique uses wax and dyes to create images onto fabric.  According to Hiho Batik’s website, “The process of batik involves outlining a design on a shirt using hot wax, painting the design with dyes, waxing over the design to keep the colors in place, and finally dying the final piece of cloth. The wax simply gets washed out in the process and you are left with a one-of-a-kind piece of art”.

You must check out Hiho Batik and see all their amazing products. Custom products range from $45-$50. If you are not interested in the actual personalization of a product, then they also offer adorable premade designs for purchase. There are so many options; it may be difficult to just choose one. If you happen to live in NYC, Hiho Batik has a storefront in Brooklyn where they offer DIY classes and make your own product parties. .

Special thanks to Hiho Batik for sending samples for review.
