The Perfect Holiday Meal #MC {HoneyBaked Ham} + Giveaway
I participated in an Influencer Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for HoneyBaked Ham. I received a gift card to facilitate my shopping trip and to thank me for participating.
As a mom of now two kids, I find myself even busier than normal. I work full-time, write for ITKM, write on my own personal blog, am a Girl Scout troop leader and somehow have to cram in Christmas shopping and menu planning for our family dinner. Seriously, no wonder I ate a plate full of brownies in under 30 seconds flat. Holy stress! Today we had our Christmas gathering with my family and I was in charge of bringing one of the meats.
The only way that I make it through these crazy moments is by making lists. This year I created an Excel document with each person that I was buying for. I wrote down every single item I bought for them and the cost of the item. With a few formulas, it totals up what I spent on each person in addition to my overall total. It helped me make sure I kept things fair between my kids and that I didn’t forget anyone on my list. As my gifts arrived, I wrapped them. This was a big change this year because previous years I did them all Christmas Eve and I was stressed out by it. I was done with all my shopping by Thanksgiving this year and all of my gifts were wrapped by the middle of last week. During free moments, we made each of our Neighbor Christmas gifts and passed them out Saturday morning as a family. Staying ahead of the game is key to being able to avoid stress and panic. So now, what about that Christmas meat for the family party! We are a very traditional family and we love ham and prime rib at Christmas. All kidding aside, ham can be tricky. Trying to make sure it’s not too salty, ensuring you cook it enough but don’t overcook it. No one, and I repeat, no one likes dry ham. Might as well serve that to the dogs under the table.
Here’s where HoneyBaked Ham can help you have a wonderful, stress free holiday all while guaranteeing a delicious holiday dinner. They make things super easy for you even from the moment you pick up the phone to place your order. I called them and the first thing they asked was if I wanted to hear the specials. She then told me what was on sale and then talked me through the best size ham for our party. I was assigned a Reservation Letter of “B” and was reminded of their store hours on the day I wanted to pick the ham up.
HoneyBaked Ham is a family-run company since 1957 that has always provided premium and convenient meal options. You can run in there for a mid-week family dinner or make them the main item for your holiday party. In addition to their ham, they have a very large range of main courses, sides and desserts. So when I walked into my local store, someone instantly greeted me and helped talk me through all of my options. One great tip I found, was to sign up for my local store on their website because right there, on the site, you can print out coupons for when you go and purchase your items. I purchased a 9 1/2 lb bone-in ham a 2 1/2 lb whole turkey breast all for around $90. They both come pre-cooked and already at fridge temp. They do recommend that it will be at it’s peak flavor if eaten cold once you purchase, but we wanted warm ham at our dinner, so we did heat ours back up.
The day of the party, we put the ham in the oven, wrapped it in tin foil and heated it for about 90 minutes. When it was finished, it was dripping with juices and insanely delicious. They area already spiral cut, so we really just had to cut it off of the bone.
The hardest part about putting it on the platter was that we had everyone grabbing pieces of ham and eating it off of the platter. It was slightly sweet and extremely juicy! All kidding aside, this ham blows my ham that I make out of the water. Hard to believe it’s THIS juicy even after it was cooked and then reheated again in the oven. This was out littlest nibbler. She ate almost 5 pieces just standing in the kitchen and kept saying “more” over and over again!
The entire family LOVED the ham and every single person asked to take a bag of the leftovers home with them. My sister-in-law even took the bone home to make split pea soup! I have to say that this was the first Christmas in a VERY long time that I was not stressed out. In fact, I was having fun, laughing and joking all day. HoneyBaked ham not only ensured that we had a delicious meal, but that I was able to enjoy the entire day from start to finish. That’s something you can’t really put a price tag on.
