Goldilocks And Just One Bear {Leigh Hodgkinson}

goldilocks and just one bear

There is a delightful sequel of sorts to the Goldilocks story, did you hear?  The tale is spun by a very creative author and illustrator, Leigh Hodgkinson.  Have you have ever wondered what happened to Goldilocks? Why she is living it up in a posh NYC condo with her loving husband and son, of course.

In Goldilocks And Just One Bear, a grown up Baby Bear finds himself so very lost, stumbling around the crowded, busy and noisy city streets… a real bear out of forest.  As fate would have it, he ends up in Goldilocks’ apartment while no one is home.  A series of familiar events take place while Baby Bear attempts to find the perfect meal, the perfect seat and the perfect bed. He may destroy a few things along the way, winding up in the little boy’s bed for a snooze.

The family is quite in awe to find their home in shambles when they return, but once the intruder is identified, Goldilocks can say nothing at all.  We know just how badly Goldilocks behaved once upon a time.  Baby Bear sure is happy to see Goldilocks living her happily ever after and retreats back to the forest, or at least attempts to, I heart NYC gear in hand.

While I love to revisit old tales like this, the best parts of Goldilocks And Just One Bear are the gorgeous illustrations. Bright, cheery colors and playful textures really bring the book to life and set it apart.  It is designed super modern and I LOVE IT.  Even the writing is printed all whimsical-like.  It is aesthetically pleasing to both me and my daughter, certainly a big plus.

Grab this little gem, Goldilocks and Just One Bear — your kids will be happy you did.
