Summer is truly coming to an end this week, which is hard to believe! The kids are back in school and schedules are filling up. The past couple of weeks, I’ve been checking off the rest of my summer bucket list and a campout at our favorite Hipcamp spot in Joshua Tree was top of the list!
I love camping in all of its forms from minimal gear, side of the road to full hookup RV glamping. Currently, I’m on a Hipcamp kick. At times when we can’t travel far, it’s fun to go somewhere familiar but stay somewhere unique. One of our favorite sites in Joshua Tree is this spot, an old travel trailer with outdoor areas to hang. It’s pretty awesome, right?
I’ve stayed here with the family but I’ve also used it as a romantic getaway with my hubs. He started a new career this year and while I’m thrilled it has taken off, I don’t see him much anymore and that makes me sad! With his new busy schedule, we have definitely made more of an effort to date each other though. Our latest date? Pizza and wine at the campsite.
When we go off for the night, I always bring one white and one red. Two of our favorites are JaM Cabernet and Butter Chardonnay. These wines are so rich and delicious. I imagine they pair well with most things, but they are particularly great served up with a vegan veggie pizza and a Joshua Tree sunset!
Summer may be ending, but camping season definitely is not! I hope I’ve inspired you to check out the unique campsites close to you this end of summer and fall. Campgrounds are great, but there is something so great about a private site. Here, the husband and I sat up all night talking, playing cards, listening to music and, of course, drinking some really great wine.

JaM Cabernet is all about flavors of fruit: blackberries, black plums, black currant, cassis… This Cab is a crowd favorite and that’s why it’s a go-to of mine when guests come over. JaM Cab is aged in a unique blend of new oak that smooths the wine an adds a lingering touch of vanilla at the finish. I’m no wine expert, but cabs are really my favorite and I drink them often. JaM Cab is a good one!!
I’m really picky when it comes to Chardonnay, but I l.o.v.e. Butter Chardonnay. It is rich, luscious and it truly melts like butter in your mouth! Made in the tradition of quality Californian winemaking, Butter Chardonnay is created from ripe and juicy grapes, just exploding with flavor. This Chardonnay is cold fermented to a lush creaminess and aged in a unique blend of oak. This is one to keep stocked in your wine fridge!
