new year, better sleep for mom

This post is sponsored by Celestial Seasonings but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

January is an awesome time to reflect on the previous year and set goals for the new one. The spectrum of new year goals/resolutions is wide but what could be more important to focus on than your health? If you’re not feeling energized and truly well, you can’t be your best self at home, at work and everywhere else, so start with you first!

Often our focus is on losing weight (and/or gaining muscle) and that is great, but there are other facets to your health like sleep. SLEEP, oh you elusive, beautiful, sometimes unobtainable thing! Our adult bodies need 7-9 hours of restful sleep to work at an optimal level. Are you getting that much sleep? I know it isn’t always easy but there are helpful practices you can add to your nighttime routine like a great sleepytime tea! Let’s talk sleep + added health benefits thanks to Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime Wellness Teas.

Something that has always bugged me is the marketing towards moms. The general idea spread over t-shirts, tote bags and travel mugs is that we moms require massive amounts of coffee to start our day (and an equal amount of wine later to deal with the stress). It’s always sleep-deprived this and momma needs a coffee that, which really seems like bad advice!

How about we stop settling for a dependency on stimulants and focus on prioritizing our sleep? What a thought, right? I totally get it, though. Moms have so many tasks to accomplish before hitting the sack. We’re up late, we’re up early and sometimes a good night’s sleep feels like a pipe dream.  Sure, I homeschool and I’m self employed, so I do make my own schedule, but there is still not enough time in the day for it all. And sometimes, even when I schedule a full 8 hours of sleep, my brain just won’t shut off. That’s the worst.

When I’m looking to resolve my sleep issues, which are many (e.g. night terrors, sleep talking, sleep walking and the occasional insomnia) I turn to God’s medicine cabinet. A warm mug of herbal tea is a nightly tradition for our whole family and what could be better than Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime Tea? The warmth and the herbal sleep aids combined really help me relax after a busy day.

Improving on the classic bedtime tea is the new Celestial Seasonings Wellness Teas:

  • Sleepytime Extra: promotes relaxation*with calming valerian
  • Sleepytime Detox: promotes natural cleansing *with aloe, green rooibos and dandelion root
  • Sleepytime Sinus Soother: promotes respiratory comfort with an uplifting menthol aroma and flavor with soothing tulsi and nettle

Honestly, I love all three flavors and I’m wishing I had the Sleepytime Sinus Soother a couple weeks ago when we were all SO stuffy. It’s really hard to get a good night’s sleep when you can’t breathe! Sleepytime Extra is perfect for those really wound up nights and the Sleepytime Detox, that’s just great for every other night. You can find all three of these at Walmart for the lowest price anywhere.

Who’s ready to forget that extra cup of coffee and focus on getting GOOD sleep instead?

Celestial Teas come without a string and in recycled boxes, continuing their dedication to sustainability. The wellness teas are caffeine and gluten free, contain no artificial flavors, colors or artificial preservatives. Find all Celestial Teas at Walmart in the aisle with other teas.
