I have an active niece who recently discovered yoga. Like a lot of other girls her age she doesn’t want to look like a little girl anymore and wants to look more grown-up. She is rarely able to fit the smallest sizes in misses apparel, and even then the cut is off because of her girlish shape. But when I presented her with an outfit from ivivva athletica, the perfect answer to modern athletic apparel for young girls, it was love at first sight.
The Activity Racer is a tank made with luon, a signature fabric of ivivva that feels like cotton and has a 4-way stretch that flows with your movements. The color of the tank, “Tahiti,” is a bright and vibrant blue that’s reminiscent of the Caribbean. With a modest neckline and a racerback cut, the fabric is really soft and has some substance which helps keep it in place during your downward dog (because there’s nothing worse than having to constantly fidget with an outfit that just won’t stay put). Ivivva also creatively incorporated their diamond shaped logo on the back with the same fabric, but a thinner version and contrasting striped pattern. The thinner fabric also helps keep you cool as this is usually one of the first places your body starts to sweat. On the inside, the Activity Racer has a built in liner for extra coverage and a label to write your name and phone number in case it’s misplaced. Ivivva didn’t skimp on the details with this top.
The first thing about the Get Down Crop II pants – they’re reversible! I hear some dance companies require you to wear all black, so this is a great pant for the versatility as plain black can go with any colored top. Made of the same super soft luon material, these black crops are uber comfortable and feature a wide waistband with the same contrasting pattern as the Activity Racer. These crops also have a small hidden pocket in the back – perfect for a key, ID card, iPod shuffle or cash. As with the Activity Racer, the seams are flat to prevent scratches and irritation against skin, helping you keep focused through your warrior poses. The Get Down Crop II pants are straight legged and hit just below the knee, great for girls who like more movement in that area.
The entire ivivva athletica line was created based on lots of feedback from their big sister company, lululemon. They also get lots of highly valued input from girls involved in these sports, even switching the material in a pair of shorts because the gymnasts kept getting bits of foam stuck to them as they were getting out the pit.
