Moby Wrap with UV Protection {Wear Your Baby} + Giveaway travel moby wrap baby gear baby carrier

The Moby Wrap is a classic baby carrier beloved by a huge percentage of moms everywhere, so when a chance to review presented itself, I jumped in feet first.  I am a self-admitted hybrid carrier lover but I wanted to get the full experience of a wrap, and what could be better than Moby?

At first sight, I was a little intimidated by the wrap (okay, a lot intimidated).  I unrolled the Moby and stared at it, 5.5 meters long and with no fasteners, for a few moments before deciding to give it a try.  To my surprise, the wrap was very easy to use and I had it on in no time.  What had intimidated me before turned out to be perks of the Moby.  There seemed to be a lot of fabric but once on, I appreciated it as the wrap made for wide shoulder straps and a covered back — which evenly distributed baby’s weight, making him feel like an extension of myself.  Soon the perks of having no rings, buckles or snaps became apparent via my comfort level.  It is just you, your baby and soft 100% cotton.

For those who are in for more than the convenience of a baby carrier, who enjoy the attachment created by baby-wearing, the Moby Wrap is ideal.  Baby is safe and comforted in the tight wrap, but right up next to you (so close you can feel each others heartbeats). Technically you can maybe bring baby home in this wrap as it is appropriate from 8 to 35 lbs, a great way to start this beautiful relationship.

There are two ways to start your wrap, the gathered method and the folded method.  I felt most comfortable with the folded method.  Once you are wrapped up (takes only a couple tries to have it down fast) you have several options of how to put baby in.  This is a user-friendly feature, being able to slide baby into different positions from the same starting wrap. You have the newborn hug hold, hug hold, hip hold, and kangaroo wrap & hold.  If you are uneasy about wrapping or unsure if baby is secure, be sure to check out the video tutorials on Moby’s website.

An exciting feature Moby Wrap offers is the UV protection of 100% cotton with 50+ SPF, which blocks 99% of harmful rays.  Keep your newborn’s delicate and sensitive skin shielded from the sun.  The UV collection comes is a great array of colors and I could not look beyond the gorgeous turquoise (but the coral was a close second).

There are cons to every carrier, mostly depending on personal preference.  For me the Moby Wrap is an exceptional carrier that is durable, comfortable, easy on my back and surprisingly simple to master.  And since there are no breakable parts, the Moby Wrap is extremely convenient to clean in the washing machine.  The only con I can see is it getting a little hot in the summer months (this would really depend on your climate) but it isn’t hot enough yet for me to say that with all certainty.  The amount of fabric and closeness of baby (who are always little furnaces) could make for a steamy carry on a very warm day.  On the other hand, those two very features are pros as far as comfort and attachment, so again, personal preference prevails.

Purchase the Moby Wrap  which comes in a few different styles, again I recommend the UV protection for just a few $ more.  Moby also provides a great variety of accessories which can also be purchased from their website.
