MagneTalk Match-up Adventures Kit {Super Duper}

The MagneTalk Match-up Adventures Kit is one of those educational tools that can be used over and over for different lessons – who doesn’t love that? Homeschool is getting pretty intense for me as the first semester is quickly coming to an end.  I’ve been using every resource I can get my hands on to challenge my daughter (and myself as a teacher).  Super Super Publications has been a definite help and the MagneTalk Match-Up Adventures Kit is no different, sent for review.

The kit contains a barrier, a two-sided object that holds a large card, on both sides, with a story-inspiring scene: camping, picnic, outer space, ocean, or grocery store.  The barrier is magnetic, so coordinating magnets come with each scene.  Since there are two sides, two students can enjoy the MagneTalk together.

There is a teacher’s workbook that includes lesson ideas and activities, as well as reproducible worksheets — homeschool gold!  You can easily print the pages inside from an included CD ROM and have as many copies as you need for multiple children or repeat lessons.

So what can you teach with the MagneTalk Match-Up Adventures Kit?

  • following directions
  • deductive reasoning
  • giving directions
  • vocabulary
  • auditory memory
  • storytelling
  • basic concepts
  • categorization
  • rhyming
  • listening

We started out with the sea scene, a vibrant seascape with friendly creature magnets.

I began with just telling my daughter to come up with her own story involving the magnets… just to familiarize herself with the MagneTalk.  Then I moved into giving her directions, getting more complicated as we went on… and then we finished up with new vocabulary words, recognizing and then writing.

Since my daughter is in 1st grade, reading and writing is a huge focus.  We took learning vocabulary with the MagneTalk to a new level, creating stories using our vocab words on the board.  We use word magnets (really inexpensive and should be in every homeschooler’s arsenal!) to complete the sentences.  You could also use the dry erase marker included.  This goes to show you just how many activities you can do with the product if you get creative and tailor to your child’s level and needs.
