the importance of family dinner {and easy meals}
This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and Jimmy Dean, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #RedboxBreakfast http://cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO.
When we were packing up our old place in Pasadena, moving back east to Palm Springs, our glass dining table broke. It was a sad moment. So many wonderful things happen around the dining table, and I’m not just talking about the food! When the homework is put away and the TV is off, quality conversation can really fly. We lived without a dining table for a few months and it was terrible as we ate scattered around the house. Finally, we found the perfect table and are back to enjoying the sacred family time that can only happen around a community table.
Everyone in my house has their own schedule and some days we are all like ships passing in the night. My husband works late hours running a bar and resort, and I have to be up early to get my work done. My daughter, 7, always has something going on and the baby, well the baby is unpredictable in his schedule. My ongoing goal is for us to eat ONE meal a day together. Sometimes it is dinner, sometimes lunch, sometimes breakfast, sometimes it is just coffee and dessert. It doesn’t matter.
With all of these crazy schedules, time is of the essence. I love to cook (and bake) but it just isn’t always doable. When I want to cut corners, I head for the freezer, a magical place where dinner sits, ready to be eaten in mere minutes.We eat a lot of breakfast foods in our house, often for dinner, so I am loving the Jimmy Dean Breakfast Bowls, a ready-made meal my whole family loves.
The Meat Lovers Breakfast Bowl is simple and delicious: egg, sausage, bacon, cheddar cheese, and potato. It contains real, premium ingredients and tastes nothing but fresh.
Just two minutes in the microwave… et voilà!
My little one, just barely 1, is a real food-lover. Sometimes he can be picky and one never knows what he will or won’t like — but he can really pack it away! He absolutely devoured the Meat Lover’s Breakfast Bowl, half a bowl by himself (plus fruit and biscuit!).
Well, just see for yourself as he jams fistfuls into his cute little mouth! Note the other fist, full and ready to go in next – LOL (boys!)
Something about being around the dining table brings out conversation, the serious and the silly. My seven year old — I adore her. One minute the most ridiculous thing comes from her mouth, the next something profound… isn’t it just wonderful how kids think? Yeah, okay, I get dealt a lot of sass from the same mouth but I’ll take the bad with the heaps of good. If you are wondering, that is just some fresh parsley on her breakfast bowl. Everything is better with fresh herbs!
If you hadn’t guessed yet, I could post a million more photos of my children but I’ll let you off the hook.
So, tell me, what do you talk about around your dining table?
Jimmy Dean Redbox breakfasts are available at Walmart (where I purchase mine) and there are lots to choose from. Keep in the know with Jimmy Dean:

That looks really yummy! My family would definitely enjoy it! We talk about EVERYTHING at our table. :)
That looks goooood! My hubs would just love that! I would eat this for “brinner” any day. ;)
Those sounds good! I love the photo of your little boy smiling at the end, too cute!
Ugh, typo!! Those SOUND good! That’s what I get for commenting with a headache, lol!
We usually talk about our next travel destination or Em’s plans to move to Florida (my kids are older…21 & 17).
I haven’t tried these yet, but it looks like the kids love them.
