finally losing baby weight {Simple Start}

I was given 1 free month of Weight Watchers Simple Start program to write about my experience.  Though I was compensated for my time and commitment, my thoughts and opinions are all mine –> 100% genuine folks.

It’s that time of year when everyone is talking about their New Years Resolutions, many of them revolving around losing weight and eating cleaner. I feel like I really got off track the past year and a half.  May 2012 we moved cities, back into Los Angeles, and the week we moved there I became pregnant.  We had been trying for this one, though we had stopped trying months before it happened… just goes to show you we really have little say. Timing is never really up to us, and this timing felt very off… I pretty much lost my job, and with it, any sense of normalcy and security.

Early on in my pregnancy, I was told I had placenta previa, a fairly common condition that typically rights itself.  I was told to rest.  Well, it didn’t right itself in the first 20 weeks like most and I was put on official bedrest.  Any extensive standing or squatting (basically anything) was dangerous and ended in more than a few very scary trips to the L&D.

Long story short, I didn’t move much for 5 months.  Prior to the pregnancy, I had been in the best shape of my life, eating extremely healthy, toned to the core and, well, happily “underweight”.  During the bedrest stage I lost all of that muscle tone and easily gained weight.  It was ultra depressing but there was literally nothing I could do.  My fear of losing my baby certainly trumped any superficial needs I had.

I successfully delivered my healthy baby boy, my condition righting itself in the last week.  Hooray!  I was eager to get back to my workout routine and I did give it a go, but alas — so tired!!  Life with a newborn (and a 6 year old) is tiresome.  My husband and I were truly zombies and working out quickly became low on the priority totem pole.

Yet another move and total sleep/wake schedule shake up with my husband’s new job (with late night hours)… regular working out, besides walking, jogging and tennis, has eluded me.  And, my diet has yet to get back to where it should be.  *cringe*  I can’t blame it on my baby anymore as he is turning a year old at the end of the month… someone, HELP ME!!

Hey, once the baby has 5 teeth and is taking his first steps –> it’s time to stop blaming the baby for “baby weight,” amirght?

I’ve honestly never thought about Weight Watchers.  I am a total foodie and I love to prepare my own food.  Then I heard about their Simple Start program and… whaaaaat?!? Let me at it!  The Simple Start app is an online program where you will find recipes, workouts, tips for healthy living, motivating challenges and a community for support and inspiration.  I am extremely excited about getting started, focusing on myself (a hard task for busy moms) and tracking my success (because failure is never an option).

Has your baby weight become toddler weight?

Please, if you feel like you could shed a few (or a lot of) pounds, join Weight Watchers Simple Start program.  I’m just beginning to look around but am already impressed –> look for more posts from me as I learn more about the program and share my successes (and pitfalls).

    I used a similar approach and think that having an organized program with great online tools is really key to sticking with it! It puts you in control without making you do it all on your own.

    There does come a time when you can’t really blame your child for the extra weight. This Weight Watchers program sounds like a great way to melt it off!

    Not so much baby weight, breast feeding took care of most of that. Rather too many sweets over the holidays have my pants fitting much tighter these days.
    Good luck with getting back into shape!

      Yes, that would be my secondary reason for trying Simple Start –> those evil holiday foods!!

    I’ve heard great things about weight watchers, i’ve heard it work for others who had “baby weight” and those who just had gotten unhealthy even without kids. SOunds like a great program.
