the flawless HiLo highchair {Joovy}
I have been using the wrong highchair for a year. I didn’t realize it until my son started eating “human food” as my 7 year old calls it. Once his daily intake of bananas, berries and other squishy, wet foods hit three times a day, I realized my fabric, crevice-filled highchair had been a mistake. I took to using a garden hose after meals, which in hindsight is pretty ridiculous.
My first child, a dainty little girl who cannot get through a PB&J sandwich without two napkins and multiple hand-washings, never ever made a mess with her food. Gabriel, however, is a different story. He is all boy all the time. He LOVES messes, the stickier the better, the bigger the happier he gets. Easily set off, he often uses his food to show just how annoyed or upset he is… food will be thrown at 2 out of 3 meals. These are facts so I needed a new highchair, one built tough for my boy, one that can be cleaned without the use of a garden hose and q-tips.
The perfect highchair was waiting just around the corner, the HiLo, which I had seen before but never been able to find in the US. My favorite baby brand, Joovy, has taken HiLo to new heights, including distribution in the US. Hooray, my life just got so much simpler.
The HiLo’s modern design makes my heart so happy. This is a chair with a 6 year lifespan (but will last forever no doubt). You will be seeing this chair in your home for a long time, way past average infant highchairs, so aesthetics are very important. I really love this pleasant green color, but the HiLo comes in a range of awesome saturated colors: pink, orange, red, black and blue. The sturdy solid birch wood frame blends well with existing wooden furniture.
Gabriel, almost *cringe* 1 year old, loves the HiLo. It is the perfect height for him to sit right at our dining room table. He has a full range of motion and I think he feels a little more free in this highchair.
The tray table is the perfect size in my opinion, not too big and definitely not too small. The removable tray fits easily into the dishwasher — something my old high chair’s could not do.
Having family meals together is just so important. Having a functional, attractive highchair is key for those family meals to happen. I just love how my kids can interact during meals. Something about everyone sitting around one table that brings a family together! At a table, you could even take the tray off and your child can eat on the adult table… not that I want to do that yet!
The HiLo is a transformative piece. It is an infant highchair for 6 months+ AND it is a toddler seat through 6 years of age. Pretty. Darn. Awesome. As a high chair, the HiLo is perfect. I can think of exactly zero negative things to say about it. But, that is not where this product stops performing.
As your child grows, use the HiLo as a toddler seat. See these buttons on the side? They pull out and the chair flips around, creating a low seat.
As a toddler seat (up to 6 years) you can have the harness attached or not, depending on the kid’s age. It is the perfect spot for toddlers to relax and watch a movie or play with toys! It would also be amazing pulled up to a table for crafts and school work.
I’m really looking forward to years of use out of the HiLo. I could see it lasting through multiple children, probably even grandchildren if you want to store it! It is so durable and easy to keep clean. No more q-tipping crevices. A simple spray and wipe and this highchair is good to go. Man, I love that!
Joovy products have truly gotten me through this first year of Gabriel’s life… notice the Spoon walker below. Always built to last, Joovy’s functional, streamlined products are always the ones I recommend to my friends. Purchase Joovy products online and keep in the know by liking Joovy on Facebook.

This is such a nice highchair. It looks very sturdy and I don’t see any crevices where food could be trapped. Plus, the green is nice too!
Love the modern look of the chair, not too “babyish”
wow, it dont have the “baby look to it, I like it
I was just saying how much I hate cleaning our high chair. You nailed it with the q tips. Can’t wait to look into this one. I am over cleaning mine multiple times a day!
I LOVE this. I’d for sure buy one if my son wasn’t at the age where he will be getting out of his chair soon to join us at the big table.
