Are you a chocolate lover like myself? I seriously love and dread these holidays because I just can’t stop at one chocolate. Our neighbors gave us an assorted box of chocolates for Christmas and I think I polished off half of the box in three days. Sad, but true. Now as we draw closer to Valentine’s Day, the holiday known for chocolate and goodies, I’m nervous! Well, if you’re looking to avoid the high calories and fat content of chocolate candy, then look no further than Balance Bar.
Balance Bar is the perfect way to satisfy that sweet tooth all while keeping that New Years resolution of being healthier. My family loves protein bars. My daughter has a kids version every day in her school lunch box. They satisfy the sweet tooth all while giving you energy and much needed protein. Most bars do have a chalk-like taste to them, so I was interested to see what I’d think of the Chocolate Mint Cookie Crunch and Chocolate Raspberry bars. I’m a nut for those Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies. In fact, I’ve been known to polish off one stack of them in a sitting. The Chocolate Mint Cookie Crunch, without a doubt, tasted very similar to my beloved Girl Scout cookie. In fact, I hate to say it, but I actually preferred the Balance Bar over it. Main reason was that you put a little cookie in your mouth and it’s gone after just a few chews. The Balance Bar has more meat, so you get to chew eat bite longer. You enjoy it and it actually makes you full. After eating a whole stack of Girl Scout cookies, I typically start looking at the second tube because I’m not satisfied. The trick to healthy eating is finding the items you love, that make you feel full and make your body happy. If you eat junk food, you’ll feel like you ate junk food. Clean eating makes you feel good and gives your body energy.
Even my five year old was excited to see these bars. She dug right into the Chocolate Raspberry before I could even tell her she could or couldn’t eat it. Her response was “Your bars are good mommy!” I was really pleased to find zero chalky taste. It really just tasted like a candy bar all while being loaded with balanced nutrition. The Chocolate Mint Cookie Crunch has 14 grams of protein and the Chocolate Raspberry has 13 grams. Don’t let that fool you though too, because the Raspberry actually has less calories. 180 compared to 200. I truly love that these bars are an excellent source of antioxidants and Vitamin D and that both contained 23 vitamins and minerals.
Next time you’re hinkering for a candy bar and find yourself down the candy aisle. Do your body a favor and keep on walking until you get to the protein bar section and pick yourself up a few Balance Bars. I guarantee that you’ll be happy with this decision for a lot of reasons. Read more about all the different flavors as well as health benefits of Balance Bar. Put together a box of these for your Sweetheart on Valentine’s Day instead of the empty calories and sugar you’ll find in chocolate candy. As long as I get some form of chocolate, I’m good!
I love cake — any kind is good for me
I would rather give a healthy snack option over candy!
I tend to eat pretty healthy every other day, so I’d prefer to let loose a little on Valentine’s Day and have some candy.
yeah, I would rather get something healthier.. not a big chocolate fan.
I would appreciate anything for Valentines day so no preference honestly.
I would love to get a “healthy” treat of dark chocolate and red wine! Both are good for your heart and have antioxidants! ;)
since im trying to watch what i eat healthy would be best for me
I guess is depends on the taste of the healthy snack. I don’t think I could pass on chocolate. But there are a lot of healthy snacks I’d choose over hard candies :)
I just so happen to enjoy both!
