For the first few months baby won’t do a whole lot and you need to bring the toys to them. Lying them on their back under hanging objects is the ideal situation. Next comes tummy time, which we all know is an important part of any baby’s day. At this point, the mat’s activities can be adjusted to hang low, in front of tummy timing baby (see below right). Now you will really see them love that mirror and hold it close. The Lights & Music Caterpillar that comes with the playmat can sit attached or be separate. It plays 30 minutes of continuous music, 10 different tunes, all activated by baby. The music and lights keep baby entertained and since it the caterpillar comes free, they can bring it around with them. For the final stage of use (6-12 months), unsnap the top activity bars and stow them away. Now you still have a playmat that works well once baby can sit up by himself. The mat is great to bring around, think grandma’s house or playdate, and the caterpillar will still be a favorite toy.
