Finding time to play with your kids and spend quality time together is so important. A great way to get everyone involved can be game night. We played a lot of games in my house growing up, whether at home or on vacation. I treasured those times, and I hope my daughter will too. Finding games for older kids can be easy, but what about our smaller children in the 3-6 year old range? I went on a hunt for games that even my 3 1/2 year old could grasp and enjoy.
My first game find I’m bringing to you is Monkeying Around by iPlay. This game is a fun twist on an old game. I know you all remember the barrel of monkeys. I used to love those guys! This game (ages 4 and up) follows the same rules: make a chain of monkeys. The game is easily assembled and disassembled and the rules are easy to follow. My 3 year old had no problem mastering this one. You simply spin the dial to see how many monkeys you must hang from the palm tree. The green branches are attached by a magnet in the center, making this a balancing game. Your kid must think about where the best place to hang their monkeys is, in relation to the monkeys already on the tree. The first person to hang all of their monkeys wins. If the tree comes crashing down, the player with the least amount of monkeys wins. We had a blast going back and forth with this game. It takes strategy and complex thinking on your small child’s part to win this one, but believe me, they can do it! Check out the determination on this girl’s face! And then, OOPS! it all came crashing down. It was a sad moment. But we just hung the tree up again and played some more!
