With the holidays quickly approaching, I have been thinking about simple DIY gifts I can make for my friends and neighbors.  Scented items are always a hit, from soaps and creams to candles and oil diffusers, since we attach memories and feelings so strongly to scent.  I have been diffusing oils in my home for many years now, for different purposes.  They are great for not only perfuming and cleaning your home, but also healing.  A great place to use them is in the shower!  I’m using Nature’s Truth Essential Oils today, which are easy to find in local stores – find them in the vitamin aisles.

Using essential oils in the shower is super easy.  All you need is about 10 drops of the essential oil of your choosing and something absorbent like a washcloth, a sponge, anything you have lying around that can be washed.  I like to use makeup sponges and scrubbers since I have so many at all times.  These are also great sizes for gift giving – or you could wrap the essential oil in a holiday washcloth.

When you’re thinking about holiday entertaining, generally your first thought is to clean and deodorize your home.  We always want our guests to enjoy a pleasant-smelling home, in the bathroom particularly.  For the bathrooms, I generally use reed diffusers (which you can DIY with just some reeds, essential oils and a jar).  When overnight guests are coming, I prepare these DIY Shower Diffusers for a surprising treat when they take their morning shower.  Send them home with a kit for themselves!

So to recap, you will need (all I found at Rite Aid):

  • Nature’s Truth Essential Oils, your choice
  • 1 makeup sponge/pouf/washcloth
  • mini Christmas stocking
  1. Drop 10-12 essential oil drops onto your sponge/pouf/washcloth.  Place it on the floor of your shower where it will get wet, but not in the direct line of the shower head.  Allow the shower to steam for a minute or two before getting in.  Breath deep and enjoy!

You can use Nature’s Truth Essential Oils in so many DIYs around the house and they certainly make great gifts.  Try combining scents together for a custom aroma and set of benefits.  For these shower gifts, I used lavender and peppermint, both of which I find rejuvenating in the shower (or bath).  For more essential oil uses and ideas, check out the Nature’s Truth website!  Don’t forget to grab this $1.00 off coupon before purchasing!  Find Nature’s Truth Essential Oils in a variety of stores like CVS, Walgreens and Target.com.  I purchased these at Rite Aid!

What a fun idea! I love welcoming family and friends into our home during the holidays, and these gifts sure are a great idea. Plus, I love the idea of sending them home with a little keepsake, too. Thanks so much for sharing! #client
