I have found that cloth diapers make some of the best burp cloths but look a little boring just as is. What I love about this DIY project is that it is super simple and fancies those plain cloth diapers up so it doesn’t look like you just have a diaper over your shoulder.  Plus this makes a great addition to any baby shower gift!

Here’s what you’ll need:

• 1 package of cloth diapers, prefold kind are the best (washed and ironed)
• Fabric (fat quarters or scraps work well)
• Thread
• Scissors
• Pins
• Sewing Machine

How to:

Step 1: Wash and dry all cloth diapers and fabric. You want to make sure you do this before sewing since the diapers will really shrink up.

Step 2: Iron all fabric and cloth diapers.

Step 3: Cutting fabric; measure the width of your cloth diaper and add an inch. This will be the length of your fabric piece. Now for the width of your fabric piece you can make it as wide as you want, I like to make mine about 2 inches wide plus another added inch for the hem (1/2 inch hem for each side).

Step 4: Fold over 1/2 inch hem on each side and press with an iron.

Step 5: Lay fabric piece at the bottom of the cloth diaper and pin, be sure to line up with edges of the cloth diaper.

Step 6: Sew the fabric to the cloth diaper.

That is all there is to it! Now you have a burp cloth!
