DIY Bar Cart {Super Bowl Party}

This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and Rubbermaid and Sharpie but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #RubbermaidSharpie  http://cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO

I’m hosting a Super Bowl party this year and the RSVP list keeps growing.  Every good hostess knows planning and prep work is the only path to a successful party, so I’m starting now.  A really great idea for any party involving drinks (alcoholic or non) is a bar cart.  With a bar cart, you can wheel around the party playing mixologist OR your guests can enjoy a self service bar, which is oh-so-fun.

Don’t over-think the bar cart.  It’s preferable to keep it simple and stocked only with what you will be using for that particular party.  By all means, buy more than you think you will need, but keep the surplus elsewhere.  If you would like your guests to make their own drinks (so you are free to circulate) simply create a drink menu with instructions.  This turns cocktail hour into a fun activity.  All you need to create a splash-proof recipe card is card stock, a picture frame and lots of colorful Sharpies.

Who loves Sharpies?  Yeah, all of us, I know!

For this Super Bowl, I decided to go with a sweet and sour theme.  Every game has it’s ups and downs, so I chose one sweet drink (for when your team is up) and one sour (for when your team is down), based around two bar staples I make myself: grenadine and sour mix.  You can grab them at the store if you are short on time, but I totally recommend making your own.

So now that you have your booze and mixers of choice, focus on the little extras that turn a drink into a fabulous cocktail.  Garnishes! Prep your garnishes ahead of time: lemon wheels, lime wedges, cherries, orange segments and mint for muddling… whatever it is your drinks require.  Store them in Rubbermaid containers with lids to keep them fresh.

Whenever I’m hosting an event where many drinks will be consumed, such as a Super Bowl party, I make sure to keep other, hydrating, beverages readily available.  I like to set up a water bar full of freshly filtered water and yummy infusing fruits.  Make it easy for everyone to have a pleasant morning post-party.

You do not have to invest in a pricey new “bar cart”. My cart I bought from CB2 several years ago (they still sell it here for $130) and I’m re-purposing it, but basically anything with shelves and wheels will work, so check out thrift shops and garage sales!

Create your own bar cart or simply just a beverage station set up on a table or kitchen island with Rubbermaid food containers and Sharpie pens.  Text COUPONS to Target, yes, just type Target in the phone number spot, for all of Target’s latest coupons.  Don’t you just love mobile coupons?  SO easy.  $1 off Rubbermaid food storage and $1 off Sharpie 4 count or more coupons will be available January 25 through February 8, just in time for your game day planning and prepping.

BTW,

GO HAWKS!

    How smart. Love the bright, stand out menu! This would be a neat idea for a candy cart at a child’s birthday party too.

    I love the idea of a bar cart! So clever and chic and practical! The framed cocktail recipe is very cute. I don’t have a bar cart but every time I happen to go in a thrift store or something similar, I’m on the lookout for one. Fun!

    I love your bar cart–perfectly styled! Where is the cart itself from?

    I’m impressed, I must say. Really rarely do I encounter a weblog that is both educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the head. Your notion is outstanding; the problem is one thing that not enough people are speaking intelligently about. I am pretty pleased that I stumbled across this in my search for some thing relating to this.

    Wow! Thank you! I continually wanted to write on my site something like that. Can I implement a fragment of your post to my site?

    Write more, thats all I have to say. Literally, it seems as though you relied on the video to make your point. You definitely know what youre talking about, why waste your intelligence on just posting videos to your blog when you could be giving us something enlightening to read?

    Hi, Neat post. There’s an issue along with your web site in internet explorer, may test this… IE still is the marketplace chief and a big component of other people will miss your excellent writing due to this problem.
