My First Collection: Chicken Little {Scholatistic}

Scholastic Storybook

We have been big fans of the Scholastic Storybook Treasures for years now.  My daughter absolutely loves being able to read along with the familiar tales, and I am happy knowing my daughter is being entertained and educated all at once.  A relatively new collection to hit the scene is the My First Collection, which is geared towards preschoolers and young readers.  I have to admit, my 5 year old’s reading comprehension has grown from watching these DVDs, especially as of late.  It is no wonder that this My First Collection DVD series has received awards such as Parent’s Choice Gold, Creative Child Magazine 2011 DVD of the Year, a NAPPA Gold and The Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Platinum Award–impressive.

The latest installment, which launched June 12 (today), is Volume 3 featuring Chicken Little.  There are 12 delightful stories in this set of three DVDs, including three never before released on DVD: Chicken Little, Scaredy Squirrel, and Katie Loves the Kittens.  You are most likely familiar with the Chicken Little tale–a crazy-eyed chicken who drums up major panic in all his friends due to his forecast of falling skies.  It is a favorite in my house so we were thrilled to see Scholastic Storybook Treasures feature it along with other wonderful stories.  My daughter particularly loved Scaredy Squirrel as well, where the first of the five book series comes to life.  This one will have your kid in stitches.  In fact, the whole DVD set was quite humorous– a great tool for keeping kids (and their low attention spans) focused.

The three discs are :

Chicken Little…and more zany animal stories
Includes: Chicken Little, The Great White Man Eating Shark, The Three-Legged Cat, Dooby Dooby Moo

Katie Loves the Kittens…and more funny stories
Includes: Katie Loves the Kittens, Scaredy Squirrel, The Cow Who Fell in the Canal, Roberto the Insect Architect

Bark George…and more doggie tails
Includes: Bark George, Dot the Fire Dog, No Roses for Harry!,  Angus and the Ducks

This DVD (and others in the collection) help engage and encourage early literacy while providing creative illustrations and a LOT of humor.  Your child will read along with this familiar and unfamiliar tales, laughing all the way.  To purchase your copy today for $24.95, head over to New Kideo.
