Butternut Baby {Sleep ‘n Cuddle}

I am a huge fan of sleep sacks; actually I am one of those moms who have their kids’ wear them until they are able tell me that they won’t wear them anymore. My oldest daughter was almost two, when she finally said “no more bag”.  Sleep sacks are the best option (in my mind) when it come to keeping infants warm but sometimes can be restrictive for mobile toddlers. Have you ever had your child try to run away once they are in their sleep sack? It always makes me cringe when I am getting my youngest into her sleep sack for nap or bed and then she escapes all zipped up in her sack. I always fear that she is going to fall and smack into something.

Butternut Baby has come out with a great alternative to the sleep sack for children ages one and older. The Sleep ‘n Cuddle Wrap is similar to the sleep sack in that it’s a wearable blanket meant to keep your small child warm while they are sleeping especially since little ones are notorious for kicking off their blankets. The difference is that the wrap is open at the feet, allowing your child to stand, crawl and walk safely while wearing the blanket.

The Sleep ‘n Cuddle Wrap is made of extremely soft polyester fleece which provides exceptional warmth. It is simple to put on; you just put your child’s arms through the arm holes and snap the three side buttons together. At a first glance I was worried that since it only snapped at one side, that the other side would hang down but once your child is wearing it, the material stays in place.

What I love about this product is that it is the perfect blanket when you are on the go. There have been so many times when we are out and about only to have our daughter fall asleep. Then ultimately she wakes up while we transition her from the car to bed by putting her in a sleep sack. With the Sleep ‘n Cuddle you can have your child wear it while they are in the car seat or stroller, making a smooth transition to bed. The only issue that I have is that her feet are not fully covered if she is sleeping on her back where she is able to kick open the wrap. Most of the time though my child is wearing footed pajamas and/or sleeps on her side or belly so it’s not really a huge issue.

Butternut Baby is Canadian company that was founded by two moms, Genevieve and Mireille. Together, they came up with the pattern for the Sleep ‘n Cuddle after searching for the best solution for their active sons to stay warm at night.  Each Sleep ‘n Cuddle Wrap is handmade by these two innovative moms and comes in three color options; Berry Pink, Lime Green and Light Blue (one size fits all). You can purchase your own Butternut Baby wrap through their site for $34.50 CAD plus shipping.

    This looks like a great product. My children are among those “mobile” ones you mention and getting them to put any sort of clothing whatsoever was always a big problem when they were smaller. It definitely looks like something which is worth a try.
