everyday home and car messes with kids {BISSELL}

This post brought to you by BISSELL Homecare, Inc.. All opinions are 100% mine.

The word kid is pretty synonymous with the word mess.  I have two of them now, kids and messes both. Factor in playdates and homeschool co-op, and I have a lot of extra kids leaving their mark as well, on every surface.  My areas that are most affected? The kitchen tile, living room carpet and the crevice-filled car seats.  I’m tackling them with the powerful, lightweight BISSELL Powerglide® with Lift-Off® Technology.

This area drives me crazy, which is really three areas, an open concept kitchen, dining and living room.  It spans from light-colored tile that shows every crumb to light colored carpet that shows.. everything!

It’s a high traffic area…

For outstanding attention and dyslexic issues, I spend my mornings and early afternoons as my daughter’s homeschool teacher.  There is a growing population of us homeschool moms, which makes it a pretty fun experience.  It’s quite a large community and we get together through charter schools and Christian churches to create one large co-op.  We share the huge responsibility of educating our children and, therefore, also share the messes.  We all vary in our strengths,  some are math whizzes, history buffs, English majors, piano teachers or retired elementary teachers who went the SAHM route.  I have been labeled one of the “artsy crafty moms” which I embrace fully.  But you know what this means, right?  Yeah, art messes, which are the biggest of messes.

It’s always something with kids and crafts, from tiny cut paper, glitter, sequins, feathers, eraser rub-offs, pencil shavings…

But these are just everyday messes, necessary in the pursuit of a fulfilled and happy childhood.

Parenting for me has been about letting go.  An uptight helicopter mom is not who I want to be and not who I want my daughter to remember me as.  I’m also a clean mom – I love to clean when I find the time – especially the floors.  Crumby kitchen tiles and dirty living room carpets make my skin crawl so I love a great vacuum – something with power that doesn’t take too much for me to push around.

The BISSEL PowerGlide® with Lift-Off® Technology just arrived at my doorstep and I am waiting to unleash it on my home (and the craft debris it contains).  It is powerful yet lightweight enough to tackle any messes in the home, including hard to reach areas like stairs and cars (I’ll get to that later!)

Key features:

  • No loss of suction and sealed system
  • One-step removable pod for portable cleaning
  • Long-stretch hose
  • Lightweight
  • Swivel steering for maneuverability
  • Adjustable handle for easy use and storage
  • 12-inch foot for stability
  • Large capacity dirt cup
  • 27-foot cord
  • Included TurboBrush® and crevice tool

As I mentioned, the house is not the only place my kids get spread their messes.  The car is another dangerzone between carpooling, car trips and commutes (say that 3 times fast) oh, and don’t forget camping! See this?  If you are a parent, you know what caused this – a 6 year old comping on… pretzels? for maybe a couple days? while yammering at her neighboring brother.

While I was surveying the car, I thought I would share how other family members (ahem, husband) can leave messes behind.  You would think he was a landscaper with this mess from today!  I’m going to have to ask him about that one, and pull out the BISSELL Powerglide® to remedy the issue!
