Living in Southern California means learning Spanish is a great idea.  You can never start too young teaching your children a second (or third) language.  Their little brains quickly soak up knowledge, and the earlier the better.  In The Know Mom is a huge fan of Scholastic’s series of Storybook Treasures DVDs.  They all feature the option of read-along, which is so wonderful for kids learning to read–from itty bitty beginners to elementary experts.   This ever-expanding collection of DVDs is one of the best tools parents have to entertain their kids, while they learn (even a foreign language).

I was so excited to see the new addition, Jorge, el monito ciclista.  This DVD collection of 3 DVDs (10 stories in Spanish and English) is so wonderfully put together.   They start off with none other than Curious George, who every child knows and loves, a comfortable place to begin.  Next we travel to another loved character, Harry el perrito sucio (Harry the Dirty Dog);   and then to Chato y su  cena (Cat’s Kitchen).  These DVDs feature Spanish narration with Spanish and English ‘Read-Along’ and English narration with Spanish and English ‘Read-Along.’  These are perfect for kids who have native tongue in English or Spanish who are interested in expanding their mind and world.  The DVD features narrators like Cheech Marin and Luis Guzman, and it is suggested for children ages 5-9.  156 minutes runtime in this 3 DVD set.
