beauty tips for holiday hostessing {entertaining}
You’ve been pinning away to your “merry and bright” and “hostess with the mostess” Pinterest boards, preparing for the upcoming holiday parties, but have you thought about yourself? Being a perfect hostess is more than decor and dining. You must also look and play the part, and while creating a relaxed and inviting environment is probably the most important aspect, your hair, nails and bright white smile matter too!
easy up-do with holiday accessory
You probably won’t have time the day-of to do a tricky hairstyle. Leaving your hair down could be a bad idea though, as you rush around the house and make last minute trips to the store (sweaty ). My go-to hostess hairstyle is any easy up-do (think teased ponytail or messy bun) with a festive accessory near the face – a bold headband or clip draws the focus away from your maybe not-so-perfect hair.
extra color
Hostessing typically means running around like a mad woman. You might break a sweat, you may end up exhausted and you won’t have much time to touch up your makeup. Wake up, shower (because you won’t have time later) and apply a little extra makeup. A touch more bronzer, blush and highlighter will make up for any loss throughout the day. Be sure to also opt for long-lasting lipstick and mascara that can go the distance (read: waterproof) and keep the concealer handy if you are feeling sleep deprived.
holiday nails
When hostessing, you are multi-tasking always and using your hands – shaking hands, pouring wine, passing out appetizers, arranging decor and cleaning up. Make sure your nails play their part! For the Christmas season, I really prefer jewel tone nails (emerald, sapphire, ruby, etc) or metallics but the official Pantone color of 2015 was just announced and it’s perfect for fall/winter season 2014 — Marsala. This gorgeous, earthy red color is super versatile and works with every skintone. It will for sure be popping up in every polish collection shortly.
a white smile
If you are like me you love coffee, tea and red wine – which is like the evil trifecta for your teeth as they all darken and stain your pearly whites. I don’t see myself giving up any of those anytime soon (or using a straw), so whitening products are part of my life.
I’m sure you guys are familiar with the Crest White Strips. I’ve used them for years with great success but I did have a couple complaints. The strips are a bit flimsy and sticks to itself as I apply them. Once applied, they can slip around the mouth. Kinda annoying, but they DO work for me so I used them despite my complaints.
Well, I’m super duper excited to let you all know that there is now a new and improved Crest White Strip – the Crest 3D White Luxe Supreme FlexFit Whitestrips. These are a revelation! Unlike it’s predecessor, these strips are firm yet flexible (they STRETCH) and once you put them on, they STAY on. Seriously. You do have to leave them on for an hour, but it’s worth it – and since they stay in place, the time flies by. You can talk still and even drink water! Say whaaat?
You can purchase the Crest 3D White Luxe Supreme FlexFit Whitestrips at my favorite store, Target for $59.99 — considerably less than the $500 you would spend on a professional whitening treatment at the dentist. Same bright white result at a fraction of the price, count me in! But wait, there’s more =) Right now you can save $7 on your purchase of Whitestrips at Target (and I also see a $5 GC offer as well when you buy 4 participating P&G personal items). Use code CREST7 at checkout for the discount!

That’s so true, I often find myself throwing my hair up!
I have always wanted to try those whitening strips. As for hair, it’s usually in a pony no matter what.
These are the only strips I recommend to my patient. Love them!
Oh how I wish I could use these. I used Crest white strips a few years back with great results but now my teeth are just too darn sensitive to any whitening products.
I feel your pain (literally)! I have to take a couple days off or my teeth get so sensitive I develop a headache. These are pretty powerful so I do 2 days then take 2 days off and 2 days back on, etc. The job still gets done!
Those are great tips! And I love Crest white strips – they work so well! Thanks for sharing!
I have used Crest in the past and they work great! Perfect to brighten your Christmas smile.
