This blanket couldn’t have came at a more perfect time. The day the Dream Blanket from Aden + Anais arrived in the mail my son started to develop a high fever. On the way out the door to the ER I grabbed it thinking he might be cold in the always chilly waiting room. We spent two days going back and forth to different doctors and during these forty eight hours this blanket became his security. He would want to hug it really tight after every time the doctor would check his blood pressure or grab a temperature reading. Since returning home, it has hardly left his sight. It’s been his movie snuggle buddy and a fort and it surprises me because never in his 4 years has he had an object that he loved so dearly. Something I noticed while he was sick was that the blanket didn’t hold in the heat like a typical blanket would. It was the perfect blanket for fevers because it would keep him warm while not keeping him so warm that his temperature would rise. That is because the Dream Blanket is made out of 100% cotton muslin.
Muslin is a finely – woven breathable fabric. When creature of Aden+Anais, Raegan Moya-Jones, moved from her native Australia to the US to start her own family, she brought with her many traditions of motherhood. One of which was swaddling their babies in pure cotton muslin. A material that kept swaddled babies cool and comfortable in the summer months as well as protecting babies from ever noticing the chill in the winter months. After searching high and low in the states for a swaddle like the ones she remembered from home and couldn’t she took it upon her self to create her own. Using the softest, gentlest muslin she could find Raegan designed a swaddle large enough that not only worked best for swaddling but could be used as a stroller cover, nursing shield, tummy time blanket, or a burping cloth. From there she went on to create swaddles in organic and bamboo muslin, sleeping bags, dreams blankets, wash cloths, burp cloths, and many more amazing products. Soon Aden + Anais began popping up in magazines, celebrity registries, and blogs!
