I love when I’m able to purchase items that we use on a daily basis that simultaneously help teach our children about the world they live in. Smiling Planet makes earth friendly plates and items for kids. Their products are BPA free, Phthalate free, contain no PVC and no lead. They’re made of 100% recycled, medical grade polypropylene plastic. Their adorable earthy designs are inlaid sub-surface using non-toxic ink, so they won’t ever scratch off from wear and tear of utensils.

They truly are a “green” company, from the eco-materials they use to the designs of their products. Smiling Planet is a husband and wife team of Freddie and Olivia. Freddie is the artist of the amazing designs on all of their items, he’s also the writer and illustrator of their books. Olivia’s family has been making plates for over 150 years, the famous Haviland China manufacturers.

Each piece has it’s own story and will allow your child to use their imagination to tell each tale. I was lucky enough to sample their Smiling World plate. My daughter loves to name all the animals and giggles at Earth’s smiling face. The one inch lip around the plate is perfect keeping messes contained. Their philosophy and designs are truly a breath of fresh air.
